God's Word, the Bible says that God has set eternity in the hearts of men, and so this is evidence of such.
Man is naturally inquisitive, and man's desire to know God is compelling. In people's efforts to find God, they use denial techniques hoping that the truth will win out. Sadly, some get de-railed in their attempts to find God, and begin to get involved with hearsay. Science and logic win through for them, rather than keeping 'open' to the inner voice of conviction.
In Romans chapter 1 v 20, it says that man is without excuse for not knowing God, because God has revealed Himself in creation.

Well....at least the Holy Spirit has burdened their hearts with the questions about God. Maybe if they see the answers often enough, they'll eventually ask Jesus into their hearts! The Lord works in mysterious ways! :-)
