I'm a Christian.
When you tell someone about your faith they ask you where you can find those passages in your Bible and you need to know where they are.
Not everyone does this - true but enough do so I always try to have Bible passages to back up my arguments.
You're right about atheists not believing but maybe at some point in time you might reach just one and get just one to believe. Isn't it worth the time ?

First off, I am atheist. You ask an excellent question. It seems to me that many christians are just plain arrogant about their faith. They say that they "know" God, and they think being able to quote the bible is a remarkable and admirable trait. I have never had a problem with people of faith. It has always been people of faith that have a problem with me. They seem more concerned with telling me that I am going to Hell than with their own flaws. I wish more christians had your attitude. Most atheists do not want explanations, especially those that reference a book that we do not care about. Live, and let live.

Be completely honest with yourself as you consider these questions. Be equally honest with God... after all, the relationship between the two of you is the reason for this question in the first place.
It is at this point that you need to be keenly aware that the Scripture references are actually the Words of God. Furthermore, you must be sensitive to the inner working of the Holy Spirit as He directs you to an understanding of God
s Word.

Someone once put it into perspective for me like this:
If you find something that makes you truly happy and fulfilled, you feel the need to tell everyone and convince everyone that they should believe exactly what you believe in order for them to feel the same. I think I personally relate it to food. If I find a restaurant where the food is out of this world good and the atmosphere is perfect, I tell everyone and invite everyone to join me so that they too can feel the joy that this plate of food has brought to me. But some people don't like mexican food!

I feel religion and faith are personal and different for everyone, conflict and unrest comes when people question each other and yes they question the holy books. If we are happy with our faith, then we need not worry about what others say or feel. As the heart ( our soul) will always guide us to the truth.....

It would be dumb to believe in something that wasn't true. I could start a faith and have people follow me by faith. Yes its true that you can't prove, or disprove the existence of God, but you have to search. Otherwise we would be mormons or jw's in having too much faith and not seeking. I back my faith up.

I in basic terms have 2 off the suitable of my head... homosexuality - biblical speaking it sort of sounds like god hates divorcees and adulterers as lots - if not extra- than he does homosexuals. i don't comprehend why definitely everyone seems to be so hung up on banning gay marriage yet are not the two obsessed with banning divorce or punishing adultery. sounds like the later damages extra marriages in line with twelve months. i assume it extremely is in basic terms a sort of speck of wood v. log interior the attention sort of issues. Dancing/eating.... interior the bible it says in very evidently that girls shouldn't braid their hair, positioned on gold rings, take a seat in church and not utilising a head masking, talk in church, won't be able to share a mattress with their husbands in the time of "that factor of the month" etc..... i'm in basic terms shocked with the help of the quantity of devoutly non secular women who do all of those issues brazenly, yet then scoff and chatter once you have a margarita or dance. The bible encourages the two eating and dancing as long because it does not fall interior the gluttony classification. So i assume I in basic terms on no account understood why people experience it extremely is their place to judge behalf of the bible or god. *Edit: ooooh 3 extra a million) Baptism - in some church homes it extremely is a great deal wether or no longer you're dunked or sprinkled. some say you may desire to be the two or - and on no account the two - to be relatively saved 2) Evolution - on no account understood why there is any such pork between advent and evolution. It does not seem significant interior the grand scheme of issues. it extremely is not the only ingredient interior the bible that present day technological wisdom does not believe. it extremely is not the only financial disaster in genesis with medical issues. 3) Drums in worship. some people make a great deal over the quantity of precussion and instrumentation you're allowed to apply in worship. sort of humorous.

Because people challenge it and instead of "wiping the dust from our feet" and moving on, some people feel compelled to argue. I don't. Nonbelievers will always be here and arguing never does any good. Let them live as they choose and pay what price there maybe. When they want what Christ offers, I'll be there.

I think that most people doubt, it is natural. And by validating their beliefs to someone else, it helps them to feel they have a stronger faith.
