Of my own experience, I have found that having raised 3 children to full adulthood the child we are now raising is having a lot easier time of it; as are we.

Here's one of my thoughts that I believe should be in the book. Parents should remember that children have no idea what what you are talking about on many occasions because they have yet to have the majority of life experiences. If this isn't taken into account the adult or the child will surely become frustrated and some times angry.

An example: I asked my daughter to bring me a pot while working in the garden, because I wanted to bring a herb seedling into the house. She brought me a cooking pot. Then I realized I had never shown her the flower pots I had stored beneath the porch, just taking for granted she would no what kind of pot because I was in the garden working.

I am so with you on this one Terry! Both in a humorous way and a dead serious way!
We need to be licensed for just about everything in this world today .....from driving a car to owning a dog or serving in a bar!.But we don't need any qualifications or even rudimentary training to be placed in charge of the most precious things on this planet! And while most of us rise to the challenge, i have seen too many poor little mites who suffer greatly!
On the funnier side of things yes it can be very funny raising kids!
(( I was going to post a very funny story about my 14 yr old here but she said she will never speak to me again if i do!!))

And good on you for being young enough at heart and wise enough in your soul to do it all again!
Bright Blessings!
Ariel

Use a map? Where's the fun in that? LOL!

Sometimes "off the beaten path" is the only real way to get where you're going...

Edit: A cooking pot! That is so cute... at least she brought you SOMETHING. In the time it would have taken him to walk into the house my son would have already been distracted by a dead beetle, the dog, and his own dirty toes....

I'm sitting here and trying to imagine how thick that parenthood instruction book would be! It'd have to be volumes!

I agree with the thought that children don't understand the majority of what we say.

I also think most parentsneed to remember that they should respect their children.

There are a lot of parenting books out there. People can read them if they feel they need. Personally for me...some of the best advice and help that I got was from family and also...experience!

Because we're all humans and we don't all act the same way, therefore, it would be like trying to hit a moving target.
It is extremely frustrating, though, because even a simple toaster comes with instructions.........................
We would probably all have to be robots in order for an instruction manual to work.............

The instruction manual is SUPPOSED to be the great job your parents did with you, if you had crappy parents then it's a bit harder, but do able. Maybe a friend's parents were good teachers or a neighbor.

there is an old instruction manual, on how to be good parents. It's called the Bible. There is so much good advice for parenting in it. Also alot of stuff in proverbs to teach children how to be good .

I like the old saying that...

"Grandchildren are Nature's revenge for the Parents who survive".
