Yes!
The Mazda 6 & the Ford Fusion & the Mercury Milan are practically the same vehicles & part of the Ford family.
Here is a comparison of these vehicles (minus the Milan):
http://www.fordvehicles.com/cars/fusion/compare/details/?vehicles=19451|20340|18954|20075
Do you see the similarities between the Fusion & the Mazda 6 ? They are basically built the same with some cosmetic differences. That is because Ford is part owner of Mazda.
(Hence the similarities)
The Fusion goes "head to head" comparison with the Camry & Accord in every way so why shouldn't the Mazda 6 ?
Here is another comparison from Mazda's website:
http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/printComparison.action?toPrint=yes
Here is Toyota's site comparison:
http://toyota.edmunds.com/apps/nvc/toyota/VehicleComparison?basestyleid=100699451&styleid=100793866&styleid=100773147&styleid=100782850&maxvehicles=4&refid=&op=3&tab=print
You can do the same from Honda's site too !
BUT HERE IS THE "DIRT" that you WON'T find on "their" sites..........
(taken from the NHTSA office of defects investigation)
these are the complaints from consumers about the vehicles that you would like to compare:
Mazda 6 :

*note that 2 of the 3 are the SAME file#
Honda Accord:

*note 2 of 10 are same report file
'07 Camry
*this is a HUGE file-157 complaints-too many to cross reference for duplicates!
http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/complain/complaintresults.cfm?start=1&SearchType=DrillDown&type=1&year=2007&make=TOYOTA&model=CAMRY&component_id=0&PrintVersion=YES
I hope this gives you the comparison info that you were looking for.

Yes... same size class and a very good car comparable with camry or accord.
I guess reliability is not as good as honda or toyota but still better than most american cars.
If you are looking at a midsize like camry or accord, consider the mazda 6 also. And if you want to go american, the Ford Fusion is very impressive. The fit and finish and reliability seem to be on par with japanese cars (consumer report)

Technically, yes it is. But realistically, the Mazda 6 is much smaller than the accord and camry and its quality is not nearly as good. Its not a bad car by any means but just not as good as Honda and Toyota. It can actually be more of what you are looking for if you want a sporty sedan rather than a larger, family sedan. the Mazda speed6 is actually a really fast sedan and great for the speed demon with a small family

Yes, it can. I've had my Mazda 626 (older version of Mazda 6) for almost 7 years - had one minor problem about 3 years ago that cost about $300 to fix.

Toyota's high quality speaks for itself. in basic terms about any 365 days Camry will very last you a lengthy time period and see you later as you save up on the scheduled upkeep. If some thing does flow incorrect, they're so assorted this is low-priced and easy to fix.
