Previously, unsaved children went to limbo, a neutral afterlife. Now the Pope changed his mind and says they go to heaven. What happens to limbo now? Will the space be used for other purposes? Who's going to move all the people?

Too many people injured themselves trying to get underneath the stick; so it was banned forever.

The Pope didn't "change his mind". Limbo was never an official teaching of the Catholic Church. It was a popular idea that developed in response to the apparent inconsistency between the fact that Jesus said no-one can enter the kingdom without baptism, vs. the fact of a loving and just God Who would certainly not send innocent children to hell. However, since it is not a doctrinal truth and never was, the Pope has discouraged acceptance of the idea. The official teaching of the Church, which you can find in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, is that "we entrust such children to the mercy of God".

In a day when it was thought that texts of the Bible had to be taken literally, thinkers wondered what is done with children who die without Baptism, since the Bible quotes Jesus saying, ""Amen, amen, I say to you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit." God is certainly merciful and yet God is certainly all-just. Would an all-just God condemn such unbaptized children to Hell? Certainly not, since Hell is the place for those who died unrepentant of serious sin, turned away from God. What, then? There must be another place for such unbaptized, yet innocent children, a place not of punishment but of perfect "natural" happiness. They are unbaptized and cannot experience the "supernatural" gift of Heaven, where they would see God face-to-face. That place of "natural" happiness was called Limbo. It was the result of reasoning from the text of Scripture, and was not a matter of dogma.

Today, Catholic Christians believe that there is more to God's power and will than we know about, and that an all-merciful God must have a plan for such children which has not been given in Revelation. The Pope chooses to stress the mercy of God rather than the literal interpretation of a text.

I think they get to move. Limbo wasnt one of Gods better ideas so the Pope asked him hey god people got a real problem with limbo. God so loved the world he said your right Mr Pope I will delete it ASAP. Now the babies get a free ticket to heaven. See the world is getting better all the time.

Sadly, the pope cannot speak limbo in or out of existence. This decisions was purely made out of an attempt to give comfort to parent's who have lost young ones. They benefit of comfort seemed greater than the benefit of trying to hold onto a theologically weak belief.

Actually, Limbo was never official church doctrine. It was a popular belief. All the Pope did was re-emphasize the pre-existing teachings on it.

Probably because it was a man-made theory and never had any basis in the Bible to begin with.

Jesus told us what would happen with teachings that do not come from God.

"But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up. Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch." Matthew 15:13-14

Insufficient flexibility of old-bodied Popes. Officially replaced by the Locomotion in 1987...you can do it with ease.

It's under renovation. They plan on opening up a new Limbo-Disney theme park.

It's just restructuring. It's not out of existence, God's just going in another direction. It's not Limbo, it's God. God just needs some time to be God's self. Limbo is part of an "out-sourcing" project.

Don't forget to call for any references you need.
