My family loves my lasagna. the key is the cheese filling.

Boil the lasagna noodles in water with salt and olive oil.

Make a large recipe of your favorive spagetti sauce. Add crumbled hamburger meat that you have browned with chopped onion, bell peppers and garlic.

For the cheese layer, I use a 1 lb. container of small curd cottage cheese, 4-5 eggs ( when stirred, it should be a light lemon yellow), a handful of parsley, and a handful of parmesan cheese. Stir really well.

grease a 13 x 9 pan. layer noodles, meat sauce, cheese mixture, and mozerella cheese. Make sure you end up with meat sauce on the top.

Bake at 350 for about an hour, or until a knife comes out clean. Take it out of the oven, add a layer of mozerella and let set for about 30 minutes before cutting.

Serve with a good crusty garlic bread.

Your boyfriend will be amazed!

lasagna is one of the dishes that can be personalized so many ways..... So, here are some tips...

*Use no boil noodles(Barilla are good) they will cook nice/tender in the oven just increase the water content of your sauce by 1/2-1cup

*Use you favorite large jar pasta sauce and add (italian sausage precooked, gr.peppers, onions, garlic, mushrooms, zuccinni, etc...) Canned diced/seasoned tomatoes

Use low-fat ricotta cheese/ and shredded mozzarella just add 2 eggs as a binder I like to add dried italian seasoning to the mixture. 1-2 tablespoons and minced garlic I also like to add either fresh leaf spinach or frozen spinach... Just squeeze excess water from frozen variety...

So, the noodles don't stick ladle 1/3 c. of sauce onto the bottom of the 9x13 baking pan and go from there.... (noodles-ricotta mix-mozz cheese, noodles/sauce/mozz cheese...and so on) Hold off on the cheese on the very top- it will burn if put on too early!!!
Preheat oven to 375 degrees- and bake 1 hour...
tightly wrap the dish when layered with heavy duty foil and unwrap last 15 min of cooking time-add mozz. topping during this time so it doesn't burn.... cook time about 1 hour you can also freeze one that's not cooked... So, make an extra...

I hope this helps...and good luck

Ingredients:
2lbs Ground Beef
Italian sausage (optional)
1 large White Onion
Garlic
1 tsp Olive Oil
1 Package of Lasagna Noodles
1 Jar of Spaghetti Sauce – I use whole canned tomatoes then I blend them, and then simmer them with seasonings
1 1/2 Cups of Parmesan Cheese
3 Cups of Mozzarella Cheese
1 Small Container of Ricotta Cheese

Pre heat oven to 425˚

1st, Brown Ground Beef, drain, then season meat to taste....I use 1 tsp of garlic powder, 1 tsp onion powder, 1 tsp Italian seasoning, 1 tsp Cilantro, and 1 tbsp of fresh garlic.

If you are using Italian sausage, this is a good time to brown the sausage and add to the ground beef.

2nd, boil noodles for about 3 minutes. They should not be fully cooked. Drain out half of the water. This way the noodles won’t dry out while waiting for the rest to be ready.

3rd, finely shred parmesan cheese, and then mix with fork into ricotta cheese. Shred mozzarella separately.

4th, in a large skillet, with olive 1 tsp olive oil put in 1 tbsp of fresh garlic and 1 white onion. Sauté until onions are tender, either add in the spaghetti sauce or blend the canned tomatoes and then heat. Then add 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp onion powder, 1 tsp Italian seasoning, 1 tsp Cilantro.

Now you will start layering....in a 9x12 pan, Use your hands it’s easier....1st lay noodles, then spread the ricotta cheese and parmesan mixture, then meat, then sauce, then mozzarella. Repeat. This until the pan is very full. The last layer should be mozzarella cheese, other wise it will burn on top. Then place in pre heated oven and cook for 15 – 20 minutes. Or until cheese is bubbling.

Add some garlic bread or a Caesar salad and enjoy!!
