I got contrasting advises on this. Like, some say that I should not wait until my battery dried up before I recharge. But there are also those that said the battery should be empty before recharging.

Which of these advises are correct?

Thank you!

It all depends on what battery chemistry is used in your cell phone battery. Most new cell phones now come with lithium ion batteries instead of ni-cads or nimh. Lithium ion batteries are being used because of their small size and light weight. However, lithium batteries need to be handled differently.

Here is what some web sites have to say about lithium ion batteries ...

A lithium-ion battery provides 300-500 discharge/charge cycles. The battery prefers a partial rather than a full discharge. Frequent full discharges should be avoided when possible.

Charge often. Don't try to fully discharge the battery packs frequently. This only adds strain. Several partial discharges (regular use) with frequent recharges are better for lithium-ion than one total discharge.

Recharging a partially charged lithium-ion battery pack does not cause any harm because it has no "memory".

you should wait for your charge to be ALMOST gone before you recharge it. Also, don't recharge it overnight or leave it plugged up for a long time. just leave it plugged up long enough to get it completely recharged.
