Why would God allow someone to have a heart attack, go through open-heart surgery, then get colon cancer, go through bowel resection surgery and chemo & radiation, be declared cancer-free, then 2 weeks later die of a stroke? I really don't understand these life lessons. What could He want us to learn from this?

In Joy: please find more information on cancer before making pointed statements. Cancer can be inherited and is not always about neglect of oneself. You may not think your statement of what you believe is fact effects people, but do you think that I was to blame for neglecting myself when I had a cancer tumor removed from my thigh bone at age 23? Do some more research before making broad, degrading statements.

It may not feel like you're learning anything, but you are. You're learning how to be strong and deal with loss. The fact is that human bodies are vulnerable. They get sick, they get hurt, and they die. It is necessary to experience pain and grief or we would never know joy and happiness. The person you described sounds like an extremely strong person to have survived so much for so long. I'm very sorry for your loss.

James 1:13"when under trials let no one says;I am being tried by God.'For evil things God cannot be tried nor does He himself try anyone.
So, the Bible didn't teaches that God is the source of the wickedness we see around us.
The Bible also answer Why do people die,Romans 5:12"That is why, just as through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin and thus sin spread to all men because they had all sinned"
Its not Gods purposed that man will die from the very beginning but because the 1st man Adam had sin and as all son of Adam we all inherit sin and die,Genesis 1:29,30.But God has promise in Revelation 21:3,4"And He(Jehovah God) will wipe out every tear from thier eyes, and death will be no more niether will be mourning nor out cry nor pain be any more.and those, our love ones who die there is a resurection. But we have to examine our selves, as John 17:3 has said"this means everlasting life, thier taking knowledge of you, the only true God(Jehovah), and of the one whom You sent forth, Jesus Christ.Soon, ther will be no war, no more sickness, poverty and evrything that causes human suffering,Isaiah 35:5,6,John 5:28,29,Isaiah 33:24,Psalm 72:16.
If you Have a Bible, try to look at these verses. And if you have more question about anything in the Bible you can email me.
God truly care about his people,(1 Peter 5:7)
In fact He want us to know Him and draw lose to him,James 4:8,Psalm 83:18.

These curses of disease are brought about by sin and not God. The devil had every intention of killing this person and the devil killed the person finally with a stroke where man could not intervene.
The person either inherited the curse or curses from forefathers or the person sinned and brought the curses upon himself or herself.
Anger, bitterness, fear, unforgiveness, abandonment and rejection cause many heart attacks, cancers and strokes.
I'm sorry, but no one ever wants to hear the truth of what God says in His Word.

You are a mortal, and not meant to understand all the things and ways of God. There's a lot of things we just won't understand until the day we die, then the answers shall be revealed. Bad things happen to teach us, whether we know how or why. Let us not oppose God though, but instead give thanks and praise him.

last things first.
"god" does not allow or dis-allow
she has merely empowered ourselves to do what ever we wish with our bodies of flesh and spirit.
colon cancer is NOT an anomaly. it takes many years of dedicated neglect to infect a body with cancer.
having a heart attack is NOT an anomaly. it also takes decades of dedicated work to clog arteries to then result in a heart attack.
the lesson is this:
YOU ARE IN FULL CONTROL
