No. In some cases, it's advised. Sometimes you should do it that way for a clean break. It's actually more 'personal' than today's email, IMs etc. -- and you don't have any awkward moments, and 'last-goodbye' attempts at (well, you know).

It shows immaturity and poor communication. I'm more than sure that you didn't rap or kiss or go out over the phone. So I don't suggest breaking off over the phone is the correct thing to do. Unless, you still have the hots for that person and can't
or don't have the courage to break up in person, so then thats another 20 bucks.

If you are located too far apart to do it face to face, then that's the best way.
If you could do it face to face, then phone isn't cheesy, it's rude. If you can't end a relationship properly, you've no business getting into one.
Do it right, and do the person the courtesy of looking them in the eye when you let them know things aren't working out for you.

VERRRRYYYY CHEESY!!! I suggest never doing this. It just shows that you are spineless and scared. Why not be a honest and tell them to their face? I think there is less hurt for the other person this way. But I do have to say it is better then never calling or answering their phone calls, and the relationship just ends up whithering away.

I think it is. The courage thing to do would be to have a face to face discussion. This is the mature behavior of an adult. I always saw the phone thing as a punk's way out and the cowardly approach to a situation.

is meanless, usually people break up on phone because they are too afraid of telling the other girl/guy in person.
it makes you look weak. And it sounds like you guys never had a serius conversation. Or a serius anything!

Yeah, you need to do it in person, it's like asking her out over the phone, you just don't do it, because she might say no.
So yeah it's cheesy and if you do break up with her over the phone, it'll make you sound immature and like you never cared for her, so do it in person!

No, it is too cowardly to break up with someone on the phone. Show some backbone; do it in person.

NO!!!! of course it's not! it's a way to let them down gently, but be firm saying that you don't want to see them anymore.
if you are going to break up on the phone though, be prepared, it's not always pretty. good luck!
