Perhaps some examples will clarify my question. In the ten commandments, the Sabbath is listed as the 7th day, but Christians believe it is the 1st day because of the resurrection. However true or false the resurrection may be, there is not a verse anywhere old or new testament that even begins to hint at such a change but "its gospel truth" now because Constantine said so. You would have thought Jesus would have explained it to his disciples in the 40 days after his resurrection, but he didn't. So why did the Justice fight to keep the 10 commandments in the court, if people only believe 9 of them are revelent? G-d repeatedly commanded the laws given to Moses to be done forever by the house of Israel and the "new covenant" was made with the house of Israel, although Christians claim to be the spiritual house of Israel, they tend to have very antinomian attitudes and seem to have redefined sin from what G-d said to doing what is right in their own eyes.

Neil R. ,
I am pretty sure you are probably a really sweet person, but what you said is horribly inconsistant. You wrote, "The Bible is true...But because God gave us free-will, we tend to sin. It isn't that we want to sin, its just that we are designed to do it."
If you have free will, then choose to keep God's commandments and don't sin. If your designed to do evil, then you don't have much of an ability of choosing righteousness do you? When God spoke to Cain, (Gen 4)God described sin as something knocking on the door that Cain could be the master of. That describes something external, don't you think? Jesus was not the first person resurrected from the dead in the bible. If the power of his resurrection is not powerful enough to change the lives of his followers into sinless creatures, in truth, not just in mental gymnastics, then what did it do that was greater than others? So God is powerful enough to raise the dead, but not able to equip HIS people to choose the right?

There's a disconnect in their thought process at some point.

So it's safe to say according to your question that you have met or known most or every Christian all over the world, is this true? There are Christians who pattern their lives after Christ. This does not mean that they are perfect, but that they are striving to be all that God has called them to be. That is what holiness is. Giving your all for the sake of Christ. BTW, you and others who do the same should be careful not to make such general statements about any one group of people. It comes across as a childish like ignorance that is frowned upon in toady's society. I guess you could call it a form of prejudice.

everyone is partial in certain things. And Jesus says if you love me keep my commandments. once we truely know Jesus whatever others call us we will do as he says-there are many that claim a name but dont know Jesus personally as savior and best friend-which is what Christian means- from the Greek word "Cristos" for "The annointed one"
this is what helps me do as Jesus asks=I am a Jew that was taught to reject the Messiah Jesus as a liar and deciever and the New testament too-as I examined the bible I prayed and let Jesus into my heart to forgive my sins and become my friend. now life is very wonderfull.
Christians believe that Christ, who is god Incarnate as predicted
Isaiah 9:6 "Unto us is born a child, a Son is given, and he will be almighty God, and the prince of peace."
perfectly predicted aprox 700bc -and the fact its still in the bible is proof that the bible is inspired and kept by true-if any scripture would be removed by the Jewish people that reject Jesus it would have been this verse.
Jesus, died on the Cross for our salvation and that He rose from the dead. We also believe that we too will rise from the dead on the Last Day when Jesus returns so the cross is symbol of victory over sin and death and has offered you salvation too.
be saved from sin, so that they can go to heaven.
be with your loved one is in heaven instead of in hell weeping forever as Jesus says in Revelation 19-22nd chapters.
praying for you friend to see the truth of the gospel and to believe instead of seeking reasons to reject the truth claiming what others dont do-why dont you do it real and show them what a true believer is, David.

The Bible is in fact without error and true. However, it's a standard of living that's almost impossible to live up to. That's why Jesus had to pay the penalty for us because He knew we couldn't live up to it. When we approach Jesus and ask for His forgiveness we essentially admit that we are hypocrites and cannot live up to His standards. We're not perfect only forgiven. An honest Christian will probably tell you that they wish to live up to what they preach but it's very hard to do it. Give us a break.

The Bible is true...But because God gave us free-will, we tend to sin. It isn't that we want to sin, its just that we are designed to do it. And not all christians are real Christians, some are Dog Christans (the Christains who do their best to become like Christ and serve and glorify his name better) and Cat Christians (those who accepted Jesus Christ but are not making an effort to serve/glorify His name)

The Bible says "All come short of the glory of God." some Christians are stronger than others and some are "fair weathered" Christians, meaning they're two faced...kinda, me , however i try my best and sometimes i slip, but it's because i am human.
hope this helps

I'm not sure what you are referring to. Every Christian I know very much wants to please God and is grieved when they fail. Paul, the great apostle, had this to say: "the good I would do, I do not; the evil I would not do, I do". I certainly am not better at following the Word than Paul!

The comman answer from christians is that they are human and make mistakes yet they condemn non christians for not believing. There is one rule for christians (no what we want sin etc etc because we are saved), but you the non beleivers are goin to burn in hell for ever even if you worship God and follow him in your way.
Christians are the biggest hypocrites ever

We hope to be trying to follow it's precepts, however we inevitably fall short. Hence a need for a savior -- Jesus Christ.
