I have lost around 11 pounds on my diet (from December 2006 until now, around 6 months) and I am dissatisfied with my progress. Is this a good pace, or can I increase the rate in which I lose weight?

I aimed to lose another 42 pounds (a total of 53 pounds) by mid July, but I guess that is impossible now; although I do want to make faster progress.

Help will be appreciated. Thanks!

Depends on how your are losing the weight if it's a good pace. Optimal results are 1-2 pound per week on a healthy lifestyle (not diet.. leads to failure).

Moderation, and portion control. No processed foods, or heavy sugars is proven to work, along with exercise. For exercise you should be doing both cardio and strength training.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

listen, loosing weight is not easy, you can listen to people tell you what to do all day but at the end of the day youre back to square one!!

you need to stop saying "diet" and eat what you want when youre "hungry" only and just limit your portions to smaller portions, people gain weight from eating toooo much, so it's simple "eat less" than before eat about 5 small meals a day, just like pregnant women eat for 2 and has to eat about 2,500 calories a day to maintain a healthy diet. eat right and exercise and dont worry about your appearance, if you do you will be discouraged and start eating the wrong foods....

did you know you are what you eat, so bad foods imagine what kind of results they give you, and good foods how good youll feel .....good luck!! you can do this!!

You can lose around 2 pounds a week. The trick is to keep track of how much you eat and how much you burn. I use www.thedailyplate.com, and it works great (tells you how many calories you need to consume to lose 2 pounds a week, or whatever you pick as your goal). It's free.
