I'm about to cut my own hair...?

I'm just going to cut a couple inches off, get rid of the dead ends.. I cut my hair myself all the time.. this time I'm thinking of possibly adding some bangs... I like the look of those side swept bangs... any idea how i could cut my own bangs? any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated , thanks!!!

section off the amount of hair that you want for your bangs and pull them all the way over your forehead in the opposite direction of where you want your bangs to go and and cut them just below your eyes, they should end up graduating from short to long as a side bang.

Start by parting your hair the way you want it. Make sure when cutting it, the shorter pieces are closer to your eyes. If you've put layers in your hair before then this is pretty simple. But, if you don't, then unfortunately I'd have to agree with the others and say go to a salon. Unless you want to always have it pulled back until it grows out.

Don't do it girl!! just go pay someone to layer you up some bangs about even with your earlobe!

I usually to go to a local salon since it only costs me $5. However, if you want to do it at home, what they do is use hairclips to hold the hair you don't want to cut away from the face and then they trim it to the length you want and then texture it if you desire. I'm actually thinking about cutting my own next time.

I like the answer the hair dresser gave earlier. Remember to take cowlicks and your hair texture into account. Also, wet hair will spring up as it dries so be conservative. Here are 2 good articles:

If you want bangs, I wouldnt suggest doing it yourself- go to a salon, in the longrun if you want your cut to be nice and well done, paying someone may be better than screwing up your hair yourself!

alright what u do is take your bangs and twist them and then cut right at the length that you want.
