We are car shopping, and we wondered about a minivan, but they all are kinda bad on gas. Does anyone have any personal recomendations,or opinions for best mpg on a mini van? We probably won't get a new one,so before '07 or '06 would be good. Any help would be fantastic! Thanks!

If you don't need a full size mini-van. The best thing you can buy right now is the Mazda 5. You should give it a look.

It's surely the minivan with the best handling. It's on a car base... the mazda 3 to be exact and that helps the handling.
The reliability is excellent, the price also, and you should get the same fuel economy as a medium size car.

If you need to use the third row of seats a lot, it's not the perfect van. The third row doesn't offer much leg room. But besides that, you will love it. And it looks good too, which is rare for a minivan.

Minivans all get similar gas mileage -- in the high teens or low twenties. In the 2007 Consumer Reports annual auto issue, the highest mpg minivans were the Toyota Sienna and Honda Odyssey at 19mpg, but the lowest minivans were only 17mpg, so it's a very narrow range. (These are "real world" mpg numbers as tested by CR, not the EPA ratings you see on the window sticker).

Are you totally set on a minivan? If you go smaller you can get something with at least slightly better mileage (a compact crossover like the Honda CRV, or a wagon like the Mazda5 or Dodge Caliber, to just name a few). But if you truly need minivan size, you're going to pay for it at the pump. They're just big vehicles and require a lot of gas to move them.

Not sure what the actual miles per gallon would be but have you though about the Ford Freestyle or the Mazda MPV. They seem to be very roomy and cost efficient.
