It's 2007 and the Christian faith since the beginning requires that they witness and share the good news. "Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature." Why argue and whine that they should keep it to themselves, when you know it's a requirement? It's like a "job requirement" you might not like that solicitors knock on your door, but if they are selling "Filter Queen" vacuume cleaners, that's part of their job description LOL ... Don't you feel like incessantly whining about them witnessing is like "beating a dead horse" I mean, what's the point?
I don't see Christians telling you to keep your anti God comments to yourself, particularily on forum like this.
Any comments greatly appreciated!
And don't jump on the "YOU CHRISTIAN" bandwagon... I make claims to nothing and have already been accused of being a Christian, Atheist and Muslim today!! LOL how diverse am I??

That passage of scripture is not brand new by any means. It was taught by Jesus and is still being followed today. The year is not important.
I agree with the vacuum cleaner people thing. It does get annoying after a while but it is part of what they are called to do. How else could they sell so many?
Yes, we Christians have been known to tell atheists and other non-believers to keep their opinions to themselves. Not only on this forum but in real life.
I liken the fued between the atheists and Christians to the Hatfields and McCoys. It has been on-going longer than any living person remembers and no living person really knows the origin of the fued in the first place.
I do know this though. The fighting will be over and every person will come together if even for a brief moment.

Well put. I think many see people as willingly sharing their beliefs as censoring others. Case in point there is a group I am a member of. Because of the nature of the group one rule is NO sexual comments, no gay talk, no cursing, etc. It amazes me how many get upset by it. They join then remark how they are being stifled. One such person brought up his being homosexual. When the topic continued away from what he was saying he got rude and asked why. The simple explaination was, among other things, to keep from hurting his feelings. The reasoning being, that if he can say I am gay, then anyone else should be free to say Yuk. It is the free speech dance. Just like Atheists want the right to say what they feel, we Christians have the same right.

When I share my beliefs, I realise that just like it is my right to say I am Christian it is their right to say yuk and vice versa. I am in no way trying to remove their free will, I am simply expressing mine.

The problem is in most of the civilized world, people have heard the gospels and have made up their minds to believe or not to believe. The role of Christians should change to making the world a better place by ending war and helping the needy.

It doesn't bother me when christians comment on here on in public. They say what they think and so do I. I do not like the fact that xtians try to change laws to make everyone live according to their rules. I am on this site to answer questions to those are sincerely curious. I do not answer questions addressed to ''christians only'' I only hope that by sharing why I am an Atheist those who are curious will actually think about things and hopefully change their minds. I believe that the world would be better off without religion.

You should not make a habit of judging people categorically. We are all individuals

You really haven't noticed the simmering irritation - occasionally hatred - from the theists that we're here shooting our mouths off and trying to burst their bubbles? Very unobservant of you.

Yes - I understand that Christians think they're obliged to go around telling everyone how wonderful their imaginary friend is. And I hope you'll understand that the Invisible Pink Unicorn obliges us atheists to give them as hard a time as possible for it.

It really doesn't matter - to anyone else - if they think God has commanded them to be a pain in the bum. If that's what they're going to be, then they can expect to be treated accordingly by those who have no interest or desire to hear their silly message.

I don't mind if they share, as long as they do it in a proper forum, such as this. It would be rude and offensive to knock on someone's door to preach at them, or bring it up for no reason at work, or in school. There are many outlets for letting your opinion be known.

This forum is such an example. Christians can post their answers to various questions about religion here. There is also Yahoo chat and Yahoo groups. In addition, there are various social clubs where discussion of religion is appropriate.

However, if you expect people to listen to you lauding your superstition, don't be offended at their response. I think that honest discussion of beliefs, including religion, is a healthy thing. Just don't expect others to hold your beliefs in the same reverence that you do. It is better to discuss various issues with people instead of talking at people.

And, yes, I think it is rude for salemen to interrupt my meal with a phonecall or come to my door peddling their crap. It may be their job, but that doesn't mean I have to cooperate with their corporate rudeness.

I don't mind them telling me about it, just don't try to force me to abide by it. In other words, keep your religious rules to yourself and don't make me or my kids have to acknowledge your god over ours.

I'm sure christians wouldn't like it if the Egyptians conquored America and forced everyone to worship Ra or die, yet that is just how christianity was spread throughout the world. You all need to change your job description. Or better yet, change your god.

That proselytizing is a requirement of Christianity will come as news to the many, many different sects of Christianity that DON'T proselytize. Take it up with them.
