No kidding I don't get it either. Hyper needy and nosey. I had one about a month ago and it ran across the top of my glass top fish tank

It's actually very irresponsible to purposely cross two breeds and create mutts. "Puggle" is not a breed. Those individuals who are producing mutts and dubbing them with "Designer dog" names are motivated solely by greed and are not only perpetrating an unscrupulous scam on the public, but doing harm to the very dogs they breed. They do NO health screenings or genetic testing at all. They do not even breed to a standard, (because there is none). In the case, for example, of the "Puggle", they are risking the very lives of the dogs they produce by virtue of the breeds they are crossing (pug + beagle). A brachycephalic dog, (such as a pug) with the lung power and prey drive of a beagle would be in serious danger or dropping dead while playing on a hot day. Those "breeders" are very adamant in perpetuating the lie that "mutts are healthier", yet these puggles are already exhibiting epilepsy (a disease that has virtually been eradicated in the lines of responsible beagle breeders), before the age of one and a defect where the bones break very easily and do not properly heal. They don't guarantee to take back their dogs, so these sick animals are now growing in numbers in shelters. By the way, they charge more for a "puggle", (anywhere from $1200-$2,000.00) than a beagle pup from a responsible breeder would cost.

I have a year and a half old Puggle, he was supposed to have less health problems than either breed because each breeds pros were supposed to combat the others cons. For example the longer nose of the Beagle was to help the short nose problem in the pug. Breathing problems etc...
HOWEVER, My Puggle has had to have eye surgery ($1200)
and cysts removed. He should not have this many health problems.
I love my dog, his name is Mister Bojangles, and I wouldn't give him up for anything but I do agree with a lot of the other answers you have got. Breeding is a problem, it is all about the $ and for my final comment DON'T BUY A DOG FROM A PET STORE, no matter what the person behind the counter says, the dog is from a puppy mill. I found out the hard way.

The purpose of breeding two diffrent breeds is that people "want the great traits of two diffrent breeds in one breed." And to get mulah from the buyer...

Because that is what BYB's do. No point what-so-ever. They're jumping on the mutt wagon with their so called "designer dogs".

There are plenty of mixed breeds that need a home.

It's strictly for making money. People crossbreed and call it a deseigner breed. It's still a mix breed and really not worth paying that much money for. Besides, "puggles" are very, very ugly when they grow up.

Taking $$$$ from fools who will pay.

The "Puggle" was created by a hard core puppy-miller in Wisconsin. He has publicly expressed how sad he is that every ignorant money-grubber has stolen "his idea" and is now driving his own profits down. Pretty sad, isn't it?

Besides the fact that they're adorable, a Beagle tends to want to run away and go explore, and a Pug is more inclined to want to stay with you. By cross breeding, you get the best of both worlds and they are usually not as high strung and healthier.

It would make a few of the puppies come out looking a certain way which is desireable and cute to certain people. Then they would take thoes puppies that came out the perfect mix and rebreed them and more will come out perfect. then after a few breedings down the family tree eventually you will have nothing but perfect mixes each litter.

Also temperment. When breeding dogs you look for certain temperments (dosile, full of life, happy, full of energy) if you only breed really energetic dogs together down the line all the dogs willcome one with that exact temperment

Ahhhh the wonders of incest haha

Easy. It's the same reason people do anything to make a profit. They do it because there's a market for it.
