You have to excersise...being fit has nothing to do with being thin...being fit is having a strong healthy body. Your mom is right...you need to eat a proper diet of fruit , veggies, carbs and protein. You don't have to work out long and hard either. Try 20 minutes of cardio (running, jogging, fast walking or areobics) and 20 minutes of light weight training a day. You will get "fit" as you mother said. You can split your workout sup to like do some in the morning (probably cardio) and weights in the afternoon/evening. You will feel much better and short workouts are easier because you don't get so tired or bored. Give it a try, you can't sit on your butt your whole life.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Well there's really no other effective way to get fit than excercisng and eating right... You can start off small by jogging 2 minutes the first two days and then jog 4 minutes the next two days. Gradually move up to about 20-30 minutes....Good luck

a way to do it without diet or exercise would be to get gastric bypass, but that can only be done if you are morbidly obese. you could consider lyposuction, but that is a costly procedure.
