I work with someone who believe dinosaurs never existed. She states the "fossils" were planted to discredit the bible. Other creationists state that Adam and Eve walked around with dinosaurs. Why is there this dramatic variation in beliefs when creationists have the same source text?

Thanks fire a new vision of the creationism scientific meeting is forming in my head. The topics are...
Dinosaurs real or left wing conspiracy....And then the maybe 20 verses in the Bible are debated ad nauseum.

I saw that the U.S. had opened a creationism museum in which one exhibit has cavemen with dinosaurs. Like you gotta be freaking kidding me. And planted dinosaur bones, do you know how hard that would be to fake?

Sigh, it's 2007!

The word dinosaur is never mentioned in the Bible. There are some terms in the Bible that could lend to the word, though. In the book of Job and Psalms a creature named "Leviathan" is mentioned and some other places monsters of the sea.
So, there could have been some big creatures like dinosaurs.

Before the fall into sin, people and animals lived together in harmony, but then everything changed.

Romans 8:20-22 gives us a hint of what happened:
"For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God. We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.

In Isaiah we are told that God will create a new heaven and earth and the conditions like in Paradise will exist again:

Isaiah 11:6 The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them.
Isaiah 65:25 The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox, but dust will be the serpent’s food. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain," says the LORD.

There are two "camps" or ideas about creation that seperate those who believe in creation.

First there are those who believe that the 6 days of creation were not literaly 24 hour days. This would allow for a long time period that would support the idea of the earth being millions of years old.

On the other hand, there are those who believe that creation was 6 literal 24 hour days. Therefore, since God created everything in 6 days, man and "dinosaurs" roamed the earth together.

One other theory that is shared is that the flood mentioned in Genesis altered the earth so dramatically that some of the animals were not able to survive long after the flood. This would account for the extinction of certain species.

Because the Bible does not specifically refer to the dinosaurs. There is a mention of two creatures: leviathan and behemoth. Specifically, the description of leviathan is more like that of a dragon than a dinosaur. Behemoth sounds like maybe a hippo. The disparity comes from not being sure whether the Bible is referring to dinosaurs or not.

The bible says nothing, so they just dream up responses. What did you expect, some form of similarity in response. Each preacher tells his followers a different story, and they all spout it.

It is tough to find two Christians who completely agree on the "interpretation" of the Bible unless they were brainwashed by the same pastor.

Because Creation in the Bible is only two chapters. We don't know the "Biblical" details.

They are simply so desperate to justify the absurd story written in the bible they will make up anything, no matter how ridiculous it is.
