Non-theistic religions? Yes, therevada Buddhism is one of them. There is also Taoism (the Tao is not a deity), a few other smaller far-eastern religions. There's also Objectivism I suppose (see Aynn Rand), and definitely Satanism (not devil worship, but the actual organized religion as practiced by the Church of Satan; see www.churchofsatan.com).

And no, it's not a case that "these are all philosophies and not religions, because they have no deity". Religion has ceremony and dogma. Philosophies don't.

I don't consider "atheism" to be a religion in and of itself, for the same reason why I don't consider "theism" to be a religion. Terms like "atheism", "theism", "deism" and "agnosticism" simply describe a stance on ONE issue, namely the existence of deity issue. You need more than that to define an actual religion. Of course, there are plenty of people, theist or atheist, who feel they're fine without any particular religion.

Depends very much on how you define God/Deity. I'll try to only discus religions which would INTERPRET God to mean a very powerful supernatural entity, who still has an active part in existence.

I interpret religion as meaning "why one chooses to act in a particular way" so I use it in the same way as ethics (personal choice) , morals (choices imposed upon a person by others, but still followed) , and spiritual (????)

Many Neo-Pagans see deity being a personification of complex systems such as nature, or a river. Some treat it as just that a complex system, other see it as Deity or even multiple deities. Some have deity in the same way that Hindus have deities, others are just like Buddhists (if you look hard enough you'll always be able find someone who will say they are a pagan who'll be a counterexample to any statement made about pagans. There is no fixed doctrine for pagans, except maybe "one should tolerate others, so long as they tolerate you".)

So I think that Pagan religion would have to count as having no gods, one God, many Gods, and other Gods. It depends on the individual.

Can't find much info about them but I suspect that the Jedi Knights would be similar. (If there are ANY followers of that path then I'd count it as a religion)

For what I've read, Deists have a creation myth that the universe was created by Deity, but its now retired and no longer interacts with the universe. I can't figure out if they'd count or not.

Apart from Buddhism, there are some shamanistic faiths which have spirits but no beings that qualify as gods.

Also atheism fits the general defination of a religion so atheism counts too.

And Janinism, along with some other dharmic faiths.

Surely it would not be a religion without a god or gods. Buddhism is regarded as a philosophy rather than a religion.

Dictionary definition of religion is belief in, worship of or obedience to a supernatural power or powers considered to be divine or to have control of human destiny; formal or institutional expression of such belief.

Therefore, if no supernatural power (i.e a god) is involved, then it is not a religion.

Buddhism is a philosophy rather than a religion. The objective is to destroy greed, hatred and delusion, the causes of suffering (amen to that), and attain perfect enlightenment or nirvana.
