The effacy of prayer has been proven scientifically. Spells have not.

One of the most quoted scientific studies of prayer was done between August of 1982 and May of 1983. 393 patients in the San Francisco General Hospital’s Coronary Care Unit participated in a double blind study to assess the therapeutic effects of intercessory prayer. Patients were randomly selected by computer to either receive or not receive intercessory prayer. All participants in the study, including patients, doctors, and the conductor of the study himself remained blind throughout the study, To guard against biasing the study, the patients were not contacted again after it was decided which group would be prayed for, and which group would not.

It was assumed that although the patients in the control group would not be prayed for by the participants in the study, that others-family members, friends etc., would likely pray for the health of at least some of the members of the control group. There was no control over this factor. Meanwhile all of the members of the group that received prayer would be prayed for by not only those associated with the study, but by others as well.

The patients who had received prayer as a part of the study were healthier than those who had not. The prayed for group had less need of having CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) performed and less need for the use of mechanical ventilators. They had a diminished necessity for diuretics and antibiotics, less occurrences of pulmonary edema, and fewer deaths.

So I guess I would have to go with the science on this one.

In my humble opinion, spell casting is just another way of dealing wtih emotions inside a person. It is some kind of inner rationalization of life experiences and how to cope with them. For example: "I don't like the way you act so I hereby cast a spell upon you." Nothing really happens but at least the person "casting the spell" thinks they feel better about themselves. I think it is just another way of expressing repressed anger. I am sure there is some psychological catharsis that takes place. And of course not all spell casting has to be something negative from what I am told, but again, positive thinking has its merits.

Any spell, prayer, curse or meditation that seeks to impinge on another person can only do so with their consent. The christian belief that they have the protection of their god is a very clear rejection of 'bad' energies, so a spell cast on a christian who really believes won't work. Christians are absolutely correct when they say that their faith will protect them.

Like many things in life, it boils down to belief. In the case of spells, it all depends upon what the person being cast upon believes.
If he believes that it won't work, it won't work.
If he believes that it will, it will.

However, most Wiccans I know believe that you can't cast to hurt, because what you cast will be returned to you times three.

Nope. For a spell to work the person needs to believe it will. You can cast any spell you want on me and it won't work because I don't believe it will. I believe that the Holy Spirit inhabits my heart and mind and there is no room for junk beliefs like this.

leaving the whole metaphysical stuff aside, there are things know as self fulfilling prophecies, and though a christian is firm in there belief of god and righteousness, there fear of the demonic is just as real,

so if a wiccian was in a feud with their born again neighbor, first cursing them out and then just plane cursing them, there is every chance that, this christian will attribute every piece of bad luck to this curse, effectively making the curse real by their own perception,

not everyone is this gullible but it does happen, and probably allot more than you think

Well whynot, will wear with whatever who welieve...lol

No.

Read Romans chapter 10...also in Psalms 'who God bless, none shall curse'

These curses only work on those who submit to it...ie, its a mind thing. A Christian should make their appeal to the Spirit of the Most High and cannot be touched.

I don't bother to influence things outside my immediate control. Too difficult and unpredictable. (And scientifically improbable.)

Besides, a Born-again would never ask for a spell, so I'd never cast one on them. It's easy that way.

Why would a Wiccan bother with a spell?

2007-05-25 05:38:48 · answer #9 · answered by LabGrrl 7 · 0 0

why should you think of doing that? i know there are persons who do witchcraft but it's quite sick to be casting spells against one person for whatever reasons you may have.

there's such a thing as "karma". i believe in it. and sometimes, what bounces back at you will even be worse than what bad you let out against someone. God's watching! Ü
