Yes. They shed just as much as a lab. If you want a dog that doesnt shed much then get a poodle or a maltese

Yes, they do shed a lot. I have a 3 month old Mutt puppy with the same type of fur as a Germand shepherd, she may be even mixed with German Shepherd(I don't know), she has the coloring too. Its almost summer where I am(NY) and she shed for the first time last weekend. After I picked her up one morning, my shirt was covered in fur that stuck like glue to your clothes. That day was the worst, but the next day, after I picked her up I had nothing on my clothes. Its weird, but they do shed from time to time, espiecially in the summer. Despite the shedding, Coco(my pup) is a great puppy, even after being seperated from her mom and litter mates too soon(I got her at a month old, because her mom died), she shows no sign of aggression, and doesn't nip much either, she is so smart too. Unless their is a big problem in your family with shedding, I think you should still get one, they are great dogs, and brushing will always help.
Good luck with your decision!

German Shepherds do shed alot. labs don't shed as much as German Shepherds but they shed a little bit.In my experience all dogs shed but they do have tools that you can use to help with grooming. There is a a tool called a furminator it helps get the under hair on a dog and helps with less shedding.
There is also a shedding blade that I use also on both of my dogs which are both part German Shepherd.
Here is the website for it:http://www.furminator.com/

Yes german shepards do shed, I would not say a lot. Depends on the changing of the seasons. They do require grooming just like any other dog. By doing so you can prevent some Shedding that will get on your couch and so on.

Ahahaha... my friend, when she's done growing, you'll be wondering if she's half sheep. We had a King Shepherd MIX, who shed as if he were trying to lose all of his fur. We could sit outside with him for three hours doing nothing but brushing, and he would still have more. These dogs require INSANE amounts of brushing. Go to your local pet store and buy every type of brush you can find. Try to get something that gets the undercoat fur. We have a brush (don't know what it's called) that works wonders... it has about eight large teeth set in a perfect row, each about three inches long, and it gets all of the fur off. Keep changing brushes until you have something that works for your dog. Brush her EVERY day, for at least an hour. It's great bonding time. Give her a rawhide while you work to keep her occupied. Also, don't bathe her until the warmer seasons. You'll have to bathe her outside with a hose.

Dogs with undercoats - including shepherds, collies, labs, golden retrievers, and just about any other medium-long haired breed - will shed - A LOT!
I believe the exception is the poodle - and maybe a few of the longer haired terriers. but I could be wrong about that (I'm happy to be wrong)
Try a Doberman Pincer - good natured, handsome, intelligent - and short-haired - they don't shed nearly as much.
Just make sure Dog wears a sweater if you live in a cold climate.

depending on the line of dog. you need to ask your self if you have the time to spend with the dog. if you will put the effort into brushing he or she everyday you will not have that bad of a problem. my mom and dad owned one for 14 years and she only shed really bad in the summer when she would loose her thick coat from winter. but it was my job to brush her everyday in the evening. she use to look foward to it. i noticed she shed the most in the back of her legs and right under her necck. well good luck in your decision. with the right training and good affection they are great dogs. just watch out for her hips. despl. is bad in shepards and can get expensive when they get older.

Define "alot" :) German Shepard's do shed all year round. Before winter (fallish) and around spring-time they will completely blow their coat and shedding will be at its worse.
Your best bet is to brush each day (or as often as you can!!) to avoid a ton of fur in your home.

YES! You can help control where they shed by brushing them daily, but still, lots of hair. Smart, loyal dogs though.
Your best bet for non-shedding dogs are poodles, and still very smart. Terriers shed very littly also.
