What do you think about worship, as a concept? What does or would WORSHIP mean to you? What kind of god would you honor and worship? (If you don't believe in a god practically, let's be hypothetical?) What do you deem worthy of receiving that kind of honor?

Dictionary def=
WORSHIP: to honor or reverence as a divine being or supernatural power; to regard with great or extravagant respect, honor, or devotion.

There is something human beings are born with that makes us want to worship something or someone. Look at the adulation of movie stars and royalty. It is as if we are born with a lock inside our heart, and we seek the worship of something, as a key, to open that lock. We seem to have a strong desire to look up to someone and to admire them, and to emulate them. I think the human heart is always restless until it finds the true Lord God......the father of the Lord Jesus Christ, Who created us, and all things. It is when we ask Him into our hearts, and begin to look up to Him, to admire Him, to hold Him in awe and reverence, that we find true peace in our hearts. This peace is His gift to us, even amidst our troubles. Worship?? Yes, we worship many things, money, power, prestige, movie stars, you name it. But we will never be at rest and peace until we worship the true and ever living God, the God of the Holy Bible. When we see Him face to face, I am sure all of us will bow down before Him. He is worthy of our worship, our devotion. God loves you, and so do I.

I think worship should come naturally out of a full understanding of the awesome-ness and power of God. If you truely understand His nature and power, then worship (just the way you defined it) is a natural action. Much the same way that you find it easy to do nice things for someone you love and respect.

When worship is forced or done as a matter of routine, it is no longer true worship. It's just going thru the motions....I don't think God really appreciates that. It's like telling someone you love them because they MAKE you say it, not because you want to....it means nothing.

As a worship leader at my church for many years, I have seen the effect of worship on myself and others. It is an amazing thing. Worship doesn't change God. It changes us. We are elevated to a place where our problems seem small compared to our God. It encourages us when we are ready to give up the fight of faith. Our head turns off, and our heart gets engaged. It is a wonderful experience. As with prayer, worship seems to be the time when God is most real to us.

I believe in God, and I worship him by praying to him, raising my hands, sometimes I even dance and I praise him in my own way. I also worship him by living every day my best for the glory of God. I read my bible, pray and fast, go to church, witness, all of this is a way of worshiping him. My def of worship is a whole complete and total devotion to something or someone, spending most of your waking breath on that person, and doing everything you can to please them.

I worship my children! Besides tending to their every need (one is still a baby) I completely adore them. When they laugh it makes me swoon with happiness. I am completely devoted to them in every way... even though I am also pretty strict with discipline, my only goal is their well-being and happiness (which means not growing up as irresponsible, entitled brats).

Just the thought of them makes me happy, I will do anythng for them, I can't conceive of anything more precious or wonderful in all the heavens.

So yeah I'd say I'm extravagantly devoted to them :-D they are not deities, but they're the only things I ever felt like worshipping.

I think that people worship so much more than just God, lots of people in today's society worship themselves, other people, objects, bands, celebrities, etc.

To me, worship means that I have full faith in something and I treat that something with love and complete respect that I give my undivided love and attention to that certain thing.

Discordianism. Satanism, besides, yet I want the former. previous pagan religions had a surprising mix of exciting and duty. typically, this is the Abrahamic religions that worship demise and deny the validity of any excitement.

I don't think God 'requires' our worship. But His love can be expressed through the congregation of worship.
