So I went for my 18 week ultrasound on Wendesday, and we found out the sex of the baby. This whole pregnancy I just knew in my heart of hearts that we were having a boy. Without a doubt. WRONG! It's a girl! We're super excited either way, but I was totally wrong! LOL Have any other mothers had this happen? I sure hope my maternal instict gets better before SHE arrives!

Well don't bring out the pink balloons just yet that's the same thing that happened to me and I still had a boy. They didn't discover that until I was 30 weeks pregnant though. I had that same gut feeling too. Just buy a lot of neutral stuff now and when you get right up to the end check again.
Trust me you'll get your maternal instinct as soon as the baby gets here. Good luck!

;-) I totally know where you are coming from, with my first son my pregnancy was hard, lots of morning sickness and such, with this pregnancy though, I have felt GREAT the whole 8 1/2 months, I just knew it was gonna be a girl, I THOUGHT I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that the Ultra sound was gonna say a girl, we had prepared ourself because like you we would have been happy either way but my husbnad was shooting more towards another boy, we had braced ourself. My 3 year old son says "are we gonna see baby sister?" and the doc said...."I THINK BABY SISTER IS A BABY BROTHER!!!" I though my husband was gonna faint, I have never heard a guy screm during an ultra sound ;-) He was sooooo happy. But yes my instinct was so wrong but it just happens that way. Good luck, best wishes, and congrads on baby girl. ;-)

We didn't find out the sex of our baby for our second child. I was certain we were having another boy. I can't say why I believed this, but I was just totally sure of it. Well, it was a girl. I am thrilled that we had a girl, so now we have one of each, but I was totally shocked. Oh well, I guess my instincts were off (along with everything else while I was preggers!)

Um yeah- I have 5 girls and I just KNEW #3 was a boy. I KNEW- I mean, mothers know these things, it's instinct.

I found out 2 weeks before she was born I never wanted a boy- the whole time I was bummed because It was a boy, mothers "just know." Don't we?

That is very very common. my sister-in-law did the same thing, thought for sure she was having a girl and found out it was a boy. It has nothing to do with your maternal instincts. you have a 50/50 chance of guessing it right, and that's just what it is, a guessing game.

The same thing happened to me, my husband and I were even calling the baby Isaac, nope it was a girl (Madeline). We thought for sure it was a boy, we went to church and the pastor mentioned a passage in the bible that said "You shall have a son and you will name him Isaac", well of course we thought this was a sign from God. But no, we ended up with a perfect little girl. Congrats and good luck.

Sometimes in an ultra sound if the baby is turned a certain way you will think its a girl because the penis is not showing.Either way congradulations on your new baby whether it be male or female.
