your ankle. because it has less nerves and more fat and skin than your wrist. Nerves are what signal pain and the more nerves or exposure to the nerves the more pain there is. the ankle i believe has less nerves or exposure to nerves because it is more surrounded by fat and thicker skin around it causing less pain than your wrist. but if you have good pain tolerance like the person said above then it depends on you which one you choose if you can handle as much pain. but the ankle is less painful.

tattoos should never be gotten or not gotten on a part of the body because it will be less painful. the tattoo location should fit the purpose of the tattoo and flow well with that part of the body. some tattoos that look great on a wrist would look bad on the ankle and the other way around. don't not get something because it will be painful. pain is part of life, and everything worth having is painful.

ankle, I have one on each wrist and while I'm pretty sure the wrist will hurt less, I have a hell of a time covering mine for work. You always have to factor that sort of thing in cuz if your employer doesn't allow tattoos then if you have them on your wrist and you want to wear a shorter sleeved shirt you have to find a way to cover them.
Luckily mine were done in grey and not black so it was a lil easier to cover, but it's still a pain in the a$$.
The ankle tends to be cute too.....

I have a tattoo on my ankle and it didnt hurt as bad as everyone said. Its your tattoo so choose the place you want it. The pain is temporary the tattoo is forever.

Both sites are thin skin over bone, and will probably have some pain. Of my friends who tattooed those sites, all mention some pain, but it is your tolerance of pain that matters.
I chose to have my 2nd tat at the top of my spine just below the base of my neck ... and yes, IT HURT ... after all, the skin is thinner and the 2nd major part of our nervous system is there.
Just remember not to drink or take anything with aspirin prior to the tattoo ... both thin the blood and will contribute to increased bleeding.
good luck & good health

If you get it where it shows like a wrist or ankle, someday its going to keep you from getting a job. Unless its your dream to be a cashier at "Satan Bobs House of Pain and Peircings"
Getting tattoos is like getting a permanent mullet...Eventually they just arent going to be cool anymore and you will be stuck in dorkland.

getting tattoos on the wrist is really popular and you can cover it up with a watch or bracelet whenever you don't want it to be seen
