I have a list of about 17 so far, but, I would like some input from others on what they see as the most common questions.
This question has been asked a couple of different ways and usually gets bombarded with smart alec answers from Atheists and Pagans.
Before any one posts some ridiculous "no proof" or "no evidence" for God answer to make a total fool of themselves please look up the basic rules of evidence. You will easily find that the definitions of evidence are such that there is a preponderance of evidence for the existence of God.
Oh, and lets keep the foolish "why didn't God make everyone slaves so they cannot choose to do bad things and hurt people" answers out too. It is obvious you cannot have both slaves and choice, you either have one or the other.
And the silly "Why does God let bad things happen to me" answers are also pretty lame, it is not what happens to us that is important. It is what we do and how we think that is important.
Thanks

Good question Jill.
Kind of a smart alec list Endora, but useful and in general easily answered.
Thanks Barry.
I could explain that evidence and proof are the same things and that the scientific method is used on objects, not beings or that we use courts to determine facts about people, beings or situations involving beings or people, but, that is so obvious it should not require an explanation.
It always amazes me how people seem to feel most indignant when they make the biggest fools of themselves, even when I do it. I'm glad I do not do it often.
Thank God for the Holy Spirit and Education.
Thanks

Interesting concept, that people cannot choose what they believe.
Do I understand that people do not have a choice in what they believe?
No. I believe that almost every being, from a mouse to a person to God has the ability to choose.
If someone takes a gun and places it to someone else's head and tells them, "Do this or die" the person still has a choice subjective evidence not withstanding.
For example, the subjective determination may be that the person feels as if doing whatever it is and living is better than dying. This will be based on the person's subjective viewpoint of their existence.
Someone else may say, and I have, "shoot me." Not that I want to die, I just believe that this part of my life would end but that I would not die, again a subjective decision based on experience.
Your position is that since the decision is subjective and not objective, there is no choice, but, you do not make it clear which choice is obvious.

The common questions about Christianity that I have encountered are (summarized):
"How do you know Christianity is true (and all of the variants on that)?" also "how can you say that you (Christianity) is right and other religions/atheism are wrong?"
"How can you say that there is a God with so much evil in the world?"
"Hasn't science/history disproved Christianity?"
"Yes, but isn't Jesus just some vague historical figure or myth that is based on other (Greek/Roman/Egyptian) mythology?"
"How can you say that Christianity is true when Christians are such (insert nasty comment here)?"
"Isn't the Bible full of contradictions?"
"I am a good person, so I why would I need it?"
Most of the questions that I get seem to revolve around existential issues, feeling like that a person might "lose out" on something in this life if they are a Christian, and on the well-documented lousy behaviours of Christians...
You did not say anything about ANSWERING these questions... :)

This seems a bit antagonistic for someone who is asking us the favor of giving you information. I know you can get frustrated with smart alecs (guilty) but I'd hope you'd take a breath and not call people names.
As per your question, the most common questions about Christianity usually fall on the "biblical literalist" collumn. If the bible says X, and you believe it to be literally true, isn't Y (often a serious, hideous or ridiculous assertion) a conclusion you should draw. Most of my questions are why a book of poetry and song like the Old Testament was taken as an absolute historical proof. Further, why the new testament was taken as a literal truth when Jesus himself spoke aligorically all the time.

Are you asking a query or giving a lecture? :-) Your interpretation is right. Jesus mentioned a lot the identical factor, greater than as soon as. If we receive grace undoubtedly, grace alterations us; eventually, we end up incapable of sin by way of being transformed. But it looks such a lot people -- Paul notion, all people -- are incapable of accepting grace undoubtedly. Through temptation, our possess wants, our possess choices as to well vs. evil, we set grace apart ... time and again and once more. One of the subjects in scripture is the chance of wasting what we don't nurture. If we use good what we've got, we can take delivery of extra; if we don't use it good, we can lose what we've got. See Matthew 25. Now this precept applies to grace -- recall two Peter a million:five-7: "With all this in view, you will have to check out your toughest to complement your religion with advantage, advantage with advantage, advantage with self-manipulate, self-manipulate with fortitude, fortitude with piety, piety with brotherly kindness, brotherly kindness with love." Peter describes a ladder we will have to climb, step-by-step, constructing on what we have already got. When we permit the ladder pass and fall into the mire, we get again at the lowest rung by way of religion, and we will be able to climb once more. As grace alterations us we're equipped of mountain climbing larger. Christ isn't in us totally, and we haven't discovered to stop sinning, till we get to the highest rung. As lengthy as we've got a hand on that ladder, and are looking to climb, we've got our grip on religion, and salvation; that's Paul's elementary message. But we're anticipated to paintings on mountain climbing: there is not any different solution to comprehend, "Go, and don't sin once more."

Sorry, but the majority of evidence is to that gods are all man-made. There is not one religion that doesn't have its origins in works of man. And there is a lot of evidence to show how superstitions, myths, and urban legends are created and strongly believed by men. Religion is just another superstition.
The question of choice is not a lame one. If God hides himself from us, he takes away our ability to choose whether to follow him or not.
The question of evil in the world is also not a lame one. It merely shows that God, if he exists, is either malevolent, apathetic, or impotent. The Bible, itself, shows God to be a vicious bi-polar bully.
And, yes, many of the answers from atheists and others are smart alec, but only because many of the questions don't warrant a real answer. Also, I find that Christians consider any answer that doesn't show what they think is due reverence as insulting.

There seems to be much speculation about the Trinity, as well.

Actually, there is no preponderance of objective evidence for the existence of God,only subjective evidence.I must state I disagree with the "preponderance"statement. Which then brings me to a sincere question. Why do Christians think atheists "choose" to not believe in god?I do not have a "choice" to believe in god. My mind is not programmed to simply one day decide"I'll believe in God now"I don't,simple as that. I am trying not to bash here at all, but,do you get what I am asking.?Could you,for instance, decide to "choose" to believe in elves?Don't take that the wrong way,I am simply trying to find an apt comparison. You have no belief in elves(I assume).Could you decide one day to "choose"to believe in them if no new objective evidence for their existence was put forth? So,how does one with a clear conscience say that atheists "choose" to not believe?Do you "get me"?
