If they want in this country so bad, they will join the military and fight for this country first. I don't have a problem with people who want to defend the US. I say let them prove they are worthy of being a citizen, what do you think?

OK I've read all of your ideas. I'm not so much suggesting that it be mandatory as much as a very suggested plan of entry. To that one guy with the rainbow, yes, a military of 12 to 20 million but it wouldn't be that much because that number includes children. In the case of children, the women (and single fathers) would not need to join. All in all, it would still be on a sign up basis. Those that want their citizenship quickly would join.

That's a good idea at least they would be giving something to the country they say they want to live in seeing how they come and take what is not rightly theirs.

HAHAHA good question. There are a lot of immigrants that join the military to gain their U.S. citizenship already. A few buddies in fact did that. I kind of of agree with you on that. But I guess there is too much politics behind that. I guess if they told all the illegal immigrants crossing the border to join and become "legal" there would be a lot of people standing in front of the recruiting stations and the military wouldnt have a problem keeping the number up. Then people would say "hey, we do all the dirty work that no american wants to do. and now we have to shed blood for a country that isnt even ours." "you send immigrants to fight ur "dirty wars." Basically the typical B.S. and to the point. I would rather be fighting next to somebody that gave a **** about what hes fighting for and instead of fighting for a legal status. get where im going with that? its a double edged sword. Dont get me wrong, some of my immigrant friends were amazing as hell and had more sense of "patriotism" and were more motivated then a few Americans. what I cant stand are immigrants that just come and dont do ****. Or expand the M-13 marasalvatrucha!!! if you want to be a gang banger join the military and prove ur self in a real fight instead of bringing it to our streets and trying to be a "bad ***."

Yeah, I know, your skins to light. They say with all the benefits that they receive, food stamps, section 8, medical care, free lunch, free ride, free child care........adds up to at least 20.00 an hour jump on the average American citizen. Yet, the have the nerve to come on here and tell us how wonderful Mexico and Mexicans are. They show no respect for the American culture. They love the way of life that we have built in this country, yet they hate us. I've never seen such a bunch of back stabbers, smile to your face then stab you in the back In reality the gringos are a minority you don't see us in the welfare line. now do you?

Sounds good, but think about it. We now have estmates that we could have up to 20 million illegal immigrants now. Our military only has about one million or less. It is an enormous problem we have allowed to grow. There are no quick fixes no matter what. We are forever stuck with this situation. We could stop the immigration of all people. Our population is now over 300 million people. Do we need more?

I agree. Are you here for this country in hopes of becoming a citizen or to just get paid. Do they really want citizenship? For all that come to this country I feel that something should be paid. Many are here and are exempt, so they get the benefit of obtaining without paying taxes and at the end of time can take the gains and return to where they have come from. We treat our guests better than we treat ourselves.

I agree, f an illegal really wants to live here than they should have to join the military, do at least 4 years, and get an honorable discharge. If they enlist and don't pull they're weight, then boot em out, and send em home.

No, thanks. Its the same thing with the draft. I don't want to be in a ditch, under fire, and the person next to me didn't ever really want to be there.
What about the children? What would be your age limit?
You know, they could just apply for citizenship the normal way. That would prove to me that they wanted to be a citizen.

I agree that anyone willing to fight for this country is worthy of being a citizen, but I am not sure how I feel about making it mandatory. Very interesting idea, though!

No, no, no, no, no, no, and for the last time, NO!
I don't want people serving in the military who do not want to be there...this includes convicts, welfare cases, illigal immigrants, troubled teens, etc.
The military is a PROFESSIONAL organization.
