I am a little concerned about the new regulation as stated above... does anyone have any more details on that or know where I can obtain more info?

I am planning to keep my contact lens solution (around 120ml) and probably my makeup remover (120ml) in my hand carry as I don't want to take the risk of those items spoiling if kept in the check-in luggage (my luggage could end up heated up at the bottom of the plane and those items are heat sensitive), but I was told that it might not be allowed.

Also, is it okay to keep lens solution in the check-in luggage? Will the heat spoil the solution?

This website will give you all the info you need about checking bags and what's permitted.

http://www.tsa.gov/311/index.shtm

You are allowed a 3 ounce or smaller container of liquid and you have to put them into a 1 oz bag, 1 bag per passenger.

I don't think makeup remover would spoil, contact lens solution I am not sure about. If you take the contact lens solution with you and show it to the airport security, they may allow you to take it. However, if they are being picky would you be able to buy it at your destination?

Basically it is the measurements of the item that determine whether it can be brought along as hand luggage. The acceptable size for a carry-on item can be found at the airlines website and I would suggest that you check there first. There are measuring devices at the airport however you do not want to find out you have to send it as checked baggage at the last minute. Remember that there are restrictions on what you can pack in a carryon bag and limits on items such as liquids. They must be in containers no larger than 100ml (3 oz) and fit in a one litre (one quart) plastic ziploc style bag. The bag must also be closed so you cannot stuff a lot of items in there. I am heading down to LA in September for a week and will bring everything I need in my carryon.....hopefully.

The cargo hold where they keep the bags is pressurized and the temperature is maintained (they transport animals down there).
If you're worried about those things breaking and leaking or something then they have to be in a container that is 3oz or less and you must put them in a 1 quart resealable clear plastic bag.
When you get to security take this bag out of your luggage and put it through the xray separate from your other luggage and everything will be good.

Heat isn't your problem in checked luggage, it's cold. The luggage area of the plane isn't heated and it's very cold up in the air. Not so cold that things freeze, however it is very cold.

You can not carry on any container larger than 3oz., they will not allow you to carry on your containers. Problem is at that point in the process, you can only throw them away so I would try with anything you don't want to lose.

They make an exception for "medicine." I took a 4oz bottle of contact lens solution on board and it was fine.

They did change that, you can take up to 3oz of one item, but it has to be in a quart size zip-loc bag.
