My parents an sister are up north with my grandma visiting her for the last time before she passes away. This will mostly likely be the last time we see her. I am a mother of two an trying to leave but ticket prices are crazy right now. Do airlines give discounts if you explain the situation at hand??? Thanks!!

No, they will only give a discount for those that will be traveling to the funeral. Even then it's just for the immediate family.

Almost all discounts went out with deregulation a couple of decades ago. We traded those for cheap fairs.

That doesn't stop you from calling and trying, just highly doubt it will result in much.

Unfortunately not before she passes away (so called bereavement fares). However, sometimes managers have some flexibility and can apply some discounts.

You might also be able to find somebody willing to donate her/his frequent flier miles to you.

Please also keep in mind that with discount airlines and so called "yield management" sometimes you can get surprisingly good last-minute deals. Few websites worth checking:

First of all, sorry about your situation.

To answer your question: definitely not. Airlines are in business to make money. They honestly could care less what your circumstance is--you'll pay what they're asking or you don't go. Simple as that.

Be useful that they are going to obviously change it for you, being useful and shopper-oriented. at the same time as (if) you get a unfavourable reaction, ahead that to Virgin immediately - goodness, attempt sending it on to the CEO, he claims to be approachable- and reiterate your elect to regulate the date. Do each little thing in writing, besides the actual shown reality that I do propose somewhat learn a thanks to discover the call of the proper man or woman to position in writing to.
