I have a 1995 maxima that's making a knocking noise. The noise is more audible at low rpms, when in high rpms you can not really hear it. The car hasnt lost any power. The car hasnt become jerky at all. some people say it could be the pistons or valves that are messed up or one of the lifters is sticking. Could it be the nock sensor that is cousing this knocking noise. I dont know. please advise what is the best step to take and fix this problem.

take it to a mechanic . you wont find an accurate answer on here unless they are a mechanic but I would take my chances with a mechanic . good luck .

if anything is knocking you NEED to get it into a shop quick like yesterday! There is more than likely something wrong with your engine since your car isn't jerking its not the transmission..
It could be pistons, valves, or something else inside the engine not working right or something broke.
You need to go get it checked out, some places offer free diagnostics testing.. so you can check for that then fix it cheaper.
Also remember to check your oil regularly as well as change it.
Also it's summer time, your car is going to get HOT so make sure there is plenty of WATER, not just antifreeze!

If it's a knock, you mind as well replace the motor. But with your problem, it sounds like a ticking noise. If it's a ticking noise, you will need a valve adjustment. It will run you anywhere from $100-$200 for a shop to do the adjustment.
