for many of us, it's not a hatred of christians, but a hatred of christianity. the problem , same with judaism, and muslimism, is the elitism. they pretend to have the sole knowledge and ability to prevent souls from going to hell. that elitism inspires hate, starting on the side of the elitist. people born into christianity often can't imagine what they put others through with their all emcompassing religion. under god is in the pledge of allegience, bush talks about the "axis of evil", and his dad says atheists aren't really citizens, and you hear about new things the vatican acceeds to all the time that science taught us decades, up to a century before. then you have the poor descrimintated christians, who feel so hurt by this discrimination, which never took place within their own lifetimes, or ten times as far back as most people know their ancestors, that they feel justified to discriminate, against atheists and polytheists and other monotheists as if any of the living ones have ever descriminated against them.

sandra,
By in large, I do not hate anyone, but find myself with very little patience for folks who are closed-minded and intolerant.
Your last sentence exemplifies the mind-set I have come to loathe. When I read something like that, it seems to me the author is assuming that if I am NOT a Christian, there must be something wrong with ME, because I DO NOT agree.
There's a whole world out there sandra, and there happens to be many, many happy people who do not practice Christianity. A vast majority of those folks do not live their life hating anyone, and believe it or not, we happen to be honest, moral, law-abiding and productive members of society.
So, sandra...I DO NOT agree, but we can be at the very least civil toward each other. Can YOU agree to 'live and let live?'
EDITED 1 MINUTE LATER:
See, there you go, sandra...you asked a question in hopes of getting responses and here you go judging others as 'ignorant'...kinda tough to take that seriously, with all your grammatical and spelling errors.

Because you Christians think your religion is the only true religion that teaches love thy neighbor but if we don't believe we are going to hell and we are all sinners !! Sorry I'm a very nice person who respects all people and any god who punishes innocent people just for not believing is no god of mine . That's hatred that Christians dish out on a daily bases !! Do you really think god cares if I believe or not as long as I do good things in my life????? It is christian followers who believe I am going to hell for my beliefs. There is no logic in this !! If there is a god my god is pure love of people and all races and religions !! The talking snake in the Garden of Eden ,the Ark with 2 of every kind of animal on the face of the earth the parting of the Red Sea it's just to much to swallow !! I do believe that a ordinary man wrote the bible not a god !! Well I guess as Christians they think I will go to hell for that last statement !! I will be laughing when I see you all on a different plain because my spirit will go on !!

The Bible Luke 19: 26 - 28
"He replied, 'I tell you that to everyone who has, more will be given, but as for the one who has nothing, even what he has will be taken away. But those enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them--bring them here and kill them in front of me." After Jesus had said this, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.
Sorry that kind of love we can do without. Additional non biased study should help with that visa versa problem.

Because Christianity is a mediocre idea gone horribly, horribly wrong. Many of its fundamental teachings strike me as innately harmful and damaging; its followers tend to be close-minded and bigoted; and its theology is flawed. Its core teachings, ranging from obedience to God to original sin to universal love, I believe are both psychologically and emotionally harmful -- and something that should never be taught to a young child as being an absolute truth.

I have no hatred against Christians. When I read about the Love of Jesus I do agree. When I read about Superman, I think he is pretty cool too.

Dear heart, I have no hatred for Christians in me. And I never...as in, never...undertake to bring believers away from where their emotions have taken them. Nonetheless, I am a nonbeliever. With me, my sense of the human species, and my understanding of human evolution (which is real whether or not you or anyone else "believes" it) says without question that we primates-with-speech gave birth to gods as we needed them, to explain the mysteries we faced: wind, storm, rain, quakes, fire, sea, etc., etc. The unhappy fact for humans of our era is that, though the world is changing with breakneck speed (space travel, the Internet, massive killing weapons, the leaps forward in science, medicine, literacy, etc.) there are many, many people who still embrace the concepts of a murdering tribe of Bronze Age desert nomads. But, as I said, but which I drifted toward to my own disappointment, I do not ever attempt to bring any religious person (of no matter which religion) away from beliefs which comfort him or her. I apologize to you.

Here is a passage of scripture that may help
John 3:19-21 KJV
(19) And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
(20) For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
(21) But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

Because Christians, true Christians, will love them anyway and forgive them and turn the other cheek. In a way, Jesus is sorting out his flock...some he will know and some he will say, "I never knew you"

I don't hate Christians. Most that I know off these boards are wonderful friends of mine and could care less what I believe. They love me for ME.
What I hate is the bigotry. The judgment. The condescending tones. I hate people knocking on my door. I hate people feeding my children beliefs that I don't agree with. If you tell my daughter about Jesus you are "saving" her. If I tells yours about Isis and Horus, then you'll burn my house down. How can I like people that? So wrapped up in their faith and their book to look around them and love what the Divine's gave us including each other?
