I once gave my girlfriend a phone for her house. She had mentioned a specific model, but when I went to the store, I realized the newer model was superior in every way. The range was about triple, the battery life was better, and it had some features deficient in the older model.
When I asked the salesman he said no one was even buying the older model anymore, and they'd eventually have to just put it on clearance. It was a relic.
When I gave the phone to my gf, she said, "This isn't the model I wanted! Why can't you just buy me what I tell you to get?" (yeah, really nice attitude)
I patiently and calmly explained how the newer phone was superior in every way, but if she still didn't want it, I'd exchange it for her immediately.
Do you think she apologized? No, she looked at the box, reading the features, and grudgingly said, "No, don't bother. I think I'll keep it".
Women never admit they're wrong.

It felt good to hear my GF tell me that I was right, and really mean it. Yet I did not make her feel bad about it.
