you just go along at the beginning of the day and the cases for the day will be posted up near the door.
If it is a case in which there is a lot of public interest you should get there before the gallery gets full.

Hi Michael - Well attending court can be incredibly boring and dull to say the least. Monday mornings in Magistrates is interesting (as previously intimated by a respondent) as this is the weekends arrests and 'overnighters' Fridays in Crown you might drop on a sentencing. Or if a big case has run the week before and the jury have been out over the weekend you might get the verdict on Monday in Crown. The best thing might be to ring you local witness service at the courts and explain your reasons and they will contact you with cases that might be a bit 'juicy' or interesting for you to sit in on, and the other thing they will do is look after you at court and move you to courts where something is 'happening' Good luck

Best is to contact the Court either by phone or in person. Generally the days hearings are advertised in reception/waiting area of the court. If you know the date of the hearing and it is a public hearing, then you should be able to go into the public gallery.

Go in the court and look at the notice board. It should list cases - when the one you want to watch comes up - ask a usher directions to the public gallery. Go up the stairs and watch and listen quietly.

Go to the Court yoy will see a listiing of cases to be heard, it is not encouraged for yoy to witness family procedings or hearings in Chambers but you can wlalk in to any Court at any time except when the Judge has started summing up.
The Court Ushers are normally very helpful in this

From my experience, it's better to call up the court offices or go down there and ask at the customer desk what type of cases they have on today & if you can sit in on them. They are very interesting to watch!
