How would I say grade (as in a grade on a test)? I think it would be dato but when I put that in the translator it was wrong!

It depends on what language you want to translate it into....

in spanish = Notas

French- Note

Italian- Voto

Grades... as... what you get on a test, right? A's and C's and all that?

Then, the right word is 'Calificaciones' (total outcome or more than two tests) or 'Calificación' (if it's just one test).

A native speker would frown hearing 'grados'. You could use 'notas', but... 'Calificaciones' is the right one.

In case you want it in Spanish:

grades = notas

good grades = buenas notas
my grades are = mis notas son ...
