fact is u have not told us the real error message you see each time it wont load.
to trouble shoot remotely, the complnaier need to explicitly declare the error message in order to assist him.
Here I would suggest that you open a ms word application then try to create a file yourself.
save this file then re-open it.
also try to open it on another system.
If it re-opens well on your system, then ur office applications are ok. but if not then you have a bad application. which occurs rarely.
On the other hand, you have not told us the origin of your files.
If the files were copied down from a removable drive eg: cd, diskette or especially USB, chances are the file images were not copied so there was a lost of hidden information required to open the file in the process of copying.
If this is the case, there's no level of effort you can put to open this file, you would receive a message that file unavailable.
whiel the file is physically there on the screen.
Causes:
The removable drive has not copied all the file in order or your system does not have the complete resources to administer the removable drive which you used to transfer the file.
This is usually the case with some storage hardware that do not pass microsoft HCL test.
what to do:
No panic, simply re-copy the file from the source system or the original place into a new media (removable device) eg diskette or transfer via the network.
then see what happens
One another note, please be advises, with your office XP chances are you're far beyond microsoft update and new developments. as of today, at least the oldest computer should have office 2003 installed not office XP
I can help you thru if u wish

First, I would go into Safe Mode and run antivirus. When you come out of Safe Mode, your desktop icons may be messed up. Just drag them back into place.
It is possible you have a virus. I brought one home from work years ago and although I could see a list of Windows files, my PC said I had no Windows and the files were marked with the name of the virus. Had to go for a clean install.
Second, I would open a Word document. With 2003, MS included a "detect and repair" on the help button. I'm assuming there's one on Excel and PPT, also. I hope you can "detect and repair" and are spared this. Have your CD ready in case the system needs to access a file.

My suggestion is to run an indepth virus scan. If you have reinstalled office already then that should be fine. I know that Office 2007 has some backwards compatibility problems with Powerpoint. But you don't mention on which version the files were created and which version you have. Hope this helps.

There may well be some strategies. a million. Your partition has undesirable clusters and scandisk remoted them, and regrettably some undesirable clusters had some workplace documents. 2. you're contaminated with an endemic. 3. you have a hacked version of MsOffice, that could reason instability of this technique. I advice you to repair/reinstall this technique, fix a prior fix factor that worked or purchase an approved replica.
