The DR may prescribe prescription shampoo for you if you ask --he did for me.Otherwise when my aunt had this problem I rubbed olive oil into her scalp and left it overnight then washed her hair in medicated shampoo and used a fine comb to gently lift the dry skin from her scalp.Don't comb too hard and make your head sore. --it might take a few goes but it worked for her.

When you use shampoo or conditioner, are you rinsing your hair out properly? Leaving behind shampoo or conditioner residue can cause itchy flakey scalp, it happened to me. Try this first for a couple of weeks.
Also, try a hot oil treatment. Get a little glass bowl and put about half a cup of olive oil in it, and if you like, you could also put half a spoon of thyme and rosemary (the herbs) in there too, they make it smell nice, stick it in your microwave for a minute or so, and when it's cool enough for you to put on the inside of your elbow, gently rub this into your scalp. Wrap your hair in clingfilm and wrap a hot towel around the whole lot, then wait 20 minutes and wash the oil out using a mild shampoo, and not forgetting to rinse thoroughly.

Dont wash your hair. Dandruff Shampoo's build up layers over the scalp which flake off. Also, if you have a white tougne you may be eating too much yeast?

Have u tried T gel therapeutic shampoo? My husband has psoriasis. They used to think he had dandruff, turns out he has psoriasis. On his skin he gets these patchy, red skin area, but on his scalp he begins to shed skin like crazy. He looks like he has lice when it gets bad. He uses Tgel a day or two and it is gone. They make regular and extra strength. It usually is beside the dandruff shampoos.

Since your special shampoos did not work, you may want to check your diet. Is it too salty, sugary or spicy? Or you need a visit to a doctor. Also check this site for some useful info: bbc.co.uk/health/conditions/flaky scalp

Try Oilatum treatment shampoo, remembering to keep the shampoo in for the 3-5 minutes it stipulates. Works for me.

You might want to see a dermetologist. They will be able to help. If you don't want to go that route, have you ever tried T-Gel? This stuff is a shampoo that you can find in the drug store. It stinks but it works very well.

It's possible you have seborrhoeic (think that's the right spelling) dermatitis, which will need to be treated with Betnovate scalp treatment-it's available by prescription.

Nizoral shampoo may help. Not sure if it is only by prescription in the US..in Europe it is over the counter.
