It requires 'rebelliousness', and resistance.
Perhaps more than most have got in them, and of a refined & highly developed sort.
One has to resist the ways of the world, without being 'against' them.
One man who's done it & teaches others how, in modern times is a gentleman called Osho.
More can be gleaned about him from the following sources:

Your friend was smart to go and become a doctor, his chances of making it as a musician are slim to none. Musicians are notoriously poor and unreliable (no offense to my musical friends, I know how you all are so sensitive and hate criticism). Most people who say they are musicians are not they are just people who learned to play a instrument. Your friend should set some time aside or take some time out to see if he can get anywhere with his musical ability but having a backup profession is a good thing.
He should give it a go though I have met plenty of other people who are in the same predicament, he has only one life, he should not spend it being miserable.

It is very evident that your friend whom you mentioned have at last decided himself to be a Doctor instead of being a musician.ou know to be a Professional Doctor is not easy. Your friend has contended himself to be a Doctor, any there is nothing wrong to be a Doctor and to be a Musician. There are also Doctors who are also munsician.
Your logic in life is wrong, my friend.Your friend is more interested to be a Doctor first before becoming a musician. Understand.

it's what you said, you are what you are. if you want to be a musician, then become that. it's your life and what you choose to do, even if people don't agree or like your choices, they are what make you who you are. it's hard to say no when people around you say the opposite, but you stick to what you believe and want in life and those people have to respect you for it, or they're not good people. Everyone has expectations, but that doesn't mean you always have to live up to them. Bottom line, your life is yours, you do what makes you happy. Always pray and ask God what he wants and follow His direction. He will always be there even if you feel like no one is, he's always listening, you just need to talk and be open to his words. Good luck!

What is stopping your friend from being both? By becoming a doctor he can afford to do anything he wants. It's time for him to grow up.

"I went into the woods because I wanted to live deliberately. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life... to put to rout all that was not life; and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived. "

Yes, I am foolish enough to be a Christian. Smart enough to stand on my beliefs. And not worried if people don't like it.
