once every , i..e, does old blood cells renew themselves inside the body when no outlet for blood is available (such as a gash or a wound)?

Suppose stale blood from a dead body is injected into a normal live human being, how long would it take for the body to detect the stale blood and how will the body get rid of it? Through the liver and spleen?

RBC lives up to 120 days and they are regenerated by the bone marrow, kidney and etc... and the the graveyard for RBC is the Spleen. About the additional info, it's next to impossible you know. When you are injected by a Stale Blood from a dead person it can also kill you if the blood given to you is incompatible to your own blood. Mainly, this causes agglutination or reaction and it will kill you in days or in a week. Another thing I believe would happen if the stale blood is compatible with your own blood is that the Leukocytes(WBC) will act as if the substance is foreign and would phagocytize it.

The average red blood cell lasts about 120 days. They are constantly renewed by the bone marrow to ensure that you don't run out. The body does recycle the old cells, mostly thru the spleen and the liver. It is really interesting to read about. Check out a good physiology textbook.

The formation of blood and its proteins, is a constant process,,,,however the midlife of the various cells differ from one another....a white cell called neutrophyl, will have a life span of 6 to 7 days...a red cell, has a life span of 120 days at most, and when getting old, the wall becomes brittle, and is removed by the spleen, forming the biliary pigments....Albumin in blood, is a protein that has a mid life of 8 to 10 days..produced and destroyed in the liver (hepatocytes).......there is a constant turnover, (faster in children and slower in old persons, as expected)...however the cells do not renew themselves at the same speed...as you see, blood is not a STABLE nor fixed tissue...it renews itself constantly, by the process called hematopoyesis in the bone marrow (erythrocites, platelets, myelocytes), and lymph nodes (lymphocytes)............
It is NOT necessary to lose blood by any means to renew the blood, however, the loss of blood, triggers mechanisms that SPEED the production of new cells (Blasts)....
The old and broken, and worn out cells, are retired from the circulation by the macrophages, or the cells in the wall of the liver vessels, called phagocytes, and the debris is recycled as reusable protein........
Nobody in his or her sound mind, would transfuse blood of a deceased person into a live one...that is irrational, illegal, and can carry the death of the recipient....

Red blood cells (most of your blood) live about 110 days. Some of the other cells can live longer, even your entire lifetime.

Blood cells are replaced every 3-4 months, not all at one time, but one at a time.

If you were to inject 'dead blood' into the body it would be filtered out through the kidneys.
