All religions come down to a basic building block of faith. There is not one that can claim to have factual evidence as it's basis. It's only possible for one to be right, so the logical argument is that all are most probably wrong.

This being the case, why does it seem that every theist is obsessed with believing they are right because of their faith?

I believe that each Christian has their own "factual evidence" of the workings of a mighty God. Me? Here are my facts:

1) I felt his arms around me during a bad car wreck; I was not harmed.
2) Extremely worried about a bill due I heard him say, "Don't worry, your IRS check is in the mailbox now." I looked and didn't see it ... but I knew it was there; never doubting. Next morning when I took my daughter to the bus stop I asked her to look in the box really good because I knew the check was there ... it was.
3) I had cancer. He gave me peace and allowed me to live. His peace was beyond all understanding; all of my friends were just waiting for me to "fall apart." I never did.
4) When I walk outside on a clear night, look up and see the beauty that surrounds me, the worlds far away in a midnight sky: I know in my heart that this didn't just happen ... it was his design.
My factual evidence is that I know he is here with me ... always.
I wish you peace and understanding.

I am a theist. I am so convinced I am right. Why?
The book I have read convinced me. I am affected from the things in it. For example, I come to a result that it cannot be words of a human being. In Quran it is said in verse (Isra-88):
Say, "If all the humans and all the jinns banded togetherin order to produce a Quran like this, they could never produce anything like it, no matter how much assistance they lent one another."

Can you bring a book like Quran; which answers all the most important questions about creatures and their creator, about events in past, present and future?

Also a question from Risale-i Nur Collection: When you see a plastic daisy, can you believe if someone says that that flower is done by itself, without a skillful producer? If not, how can you believe all the flowers and other creatures of perfect art are created without a master artist?

Faith is a grace from God. We come to know and love Him through faith. Scientific proof? Nope, don't have any. If I did, I wouldn't need faith anymore.

The same applies to atheists. They have no proof against God either. So, where does this leave us? I guess it's the question that Jesus asked, "Who do you say that I am?"

We do have signs telling us that God is there. Ever read The Incorruptibles, or the Secrets of the Eucharist by Joan Cruz? Good stuff. You might like it.

God bless.

Nonsense.

Faith is only part of the equation.

Christianity has real, historical people, who did real historical things, with real historical outcomes, from the dawn of human existence, right up to the present day.

Faith comes into play only when it comes to accepting the eternal significance of those things, and putting them into the appropriate theological perspective.

Study the fall of the Soviet Union in the 1980's ... in relation to the combined work of Pope John Paul II, Ronald Reagan, and Margaret Thatcher, and you should be able to see exactly how totally unexpected and even miraculous events can very rapidly come to pass.

Anyone who fails to see the hand of God acting in that extraordinary historical event, which virtually destroyed atheistic communism throughout eastern Europe, has to be either blind or stupid.

It is for that very reason that I am not absolutely convinced that I am right.

I think it is highly likely that I am correct, but i will ready admit that I might be wrong, when it comes to the existence of a creator.

Actually, I do not get angry or obsessed that my beliefs are right, I just know they are right for ME. IF my words or my life cause you to become a believer, so be it. THIS is my life and I will defend it. But that again is not anger or obsession...

Many of them are not really convinced they are correct, but they are scared to admit it, and they become angry if anyone says anything that causes them to doubt, because anger is easier to handle than fear for them. My oldest sister is indeed like that. She is barabaric toward me when I say certain things. If my brother insulted me as Sis does, I'd break his jaw.

Many theists would disagree with you.

Because they have the right to believe their way. If you don't confront them with "your truth", they wont confront you with theirs. Live and let live.
