Fatima is not the name of a woman. It is the name of the place where the woman appeared. That woman is Mary, the Virgin Mother of God. This explains why there is no woman named Fatima mentioned in the Bible.
The shrine is there to commemorate Mary's appearances at Fatima.
While there are numerous Mary sightings, most are bogus. Only a select few appearances have been determined by the Church to be absolutely real. Mary's appearances at Fatima is one of them.
The shrine exists there to commemorate the Virgin Mother's appearances at Fatima. Since the beginning of Biblical times, the ground on which a maraculous event takes place is considered Hallowed. There is nothing improper about the building of a shrine in the vicinity of the appearances at Fatima.
<<, and why do they think that she gave three secrects to child shepherds. Because there is nothing about this in the true word of god the Bible.is this something else that catholics have made up>>
Biblical precedent suggest that the appearance of supernatural entities always entailed the delivery of a message to the person(s) witnessing the entity. Otherwise, what would be the point of any given appearance?
Are you aware that, among the things the Virgin Mary did share with the three children was the prophecy that two would die early deaths?
And why do you feel the fact that the Fatima appearances not being in the Bible means something? For one, the last Biblical text to be written was more than a thousands years before the Fatima appearances took place. So how could they possibly be in the Bible? What's more, you don't seem to think the Bible has any credibility, so what difference would it have made to you if the Fatima appearances were in the Bible. They would still mean nothing to you, of course. So why mention it at all?

There is evidence, you've chosen to ignore it, is all. There are none so blind as those who will not see.

The apparition at Fatima is one of the most well recorded miracles in the Church.
You won't find those 3 secrets in the bible because they aren't there. Mary gave those secrets to the 3 children.
Fatima is the name of the PLACE, not the woman. The woman at Fatima is the Virgin Mary.
God bless.

Fatima is a city in Portugal in which many Catholics believe an appearance of the Virgin Mary happened in 1917. She supposedly apeared on the 13th of each month for six months in a row. So "The Lady of Fatima" is the Virgin Mary.
You will have to decide if this is something they just "made up".

Fatima was the place that the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to three shepherd children and later to 1000s of people.
There is also nothing about the Renaissance Era, the Pilgrims on the Mayflower, the American Revolution, and two world wars in the Bible, but we know they happened.

There is a place in Portugal called Fatima. It is not a person. Supposedly Mary appeared to 3 children there, giving them messages for the world. I, being an atheist, do not believe in apparitions, but I also don't believe in ignorance and bigotry. Maybe you need to do some research on the catholic church and find out what they really believe and teach. There is so much misinformation spread by anti-catholic bigots.

Don't look now but your bigotry is showing. First, your thinking Fatima is a woman is freaking hilarious. Secondly, it wouldn't be in the bible because it happened in 1917. The bible was written a few years before that, wasn't it? (I'm a Catholic, so according to some people of the Protestant persuasion, I know nothing about the bible) Yes, that was sarcasm.
For the love of God, I wish people like you would learn to live and let live. I don't give a rat's posterior what you and your kind worship or believe in, and I'd appreciate it if you'd butt out when it comes to my beliefs.

Fatima is a village in central Portugal North of Lisbon.
You are correct in that the bible makes no reference to it. This is because the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to the children approx. a century ago in that village of Fatima. Hence Our Lady of Fatima.

The apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary at Fatima, Portugal are one of the most well documented and thoroughly reported events of the early 20th century.
Not only that, but we are now able to look back at the message that Mary delivered, and verify the fulfillment of all that was predicted.
