Once again, another posting on Females in the Military -- and it seems to be one of prejudice and bias ...

As a FEMALE Military Retiree, a Long Term Single Parent, and yes, now an Empty-Nesting Single Retiree ... I can DEFINITELY STATE that there are Positions (MOSs or Job Codes/Series) where FEMALES can perform the same (or ... above) the level that MALES in the same field perform .. and that is for sure. There are plenty of skill fields that women are VOLUNTEERING for by Joining the Services (and not just the Army!) ... opportunities that in the Civilian World they would NOT normally have the opportunity to do so .. nor would they receive the same pay for the same work either.

So yes, Women that CAN pass the physical conditioning, meet the mental/other standards, are willing to VOLUNTEER to 'defend the Constitution of the United States' CAN and SHOULD Volunteer.

Just to make it perfectly clear -- the line between combat and non-combat is now blurred ... because there is no more the traditional 'conventional' warfare ... the Terrorists and those who indiscriminately kill (the brainwashed, the cults, etc) ... have NO Concern for Human Life or its Social/Historical connections ... and have NO CONSCIENCE at all -- Life is MEANINGLESS to people like this. THAT is what we are facing ... and to call this incitement to kill/maim/destroy a 'sermon' is NOT what it should be called -- let's call it an INCITEMENT to VIOLENCE, Brutality, Abuse, and pillage -- which is what TERRORIST Leaders do ...

Yes! Both my parents were in the Marines when I was born. As long as the woman is able to complete tasks like everyone else and capable to do everything required by the military then they should be allowed in. If sex were an issue well there's gay men in the military, and there's some straight guys who have sex with men while in the military because they are bored. (that was toward the women as sexual gratification comment)

Yes they should join....this is 2007 not 1950.

Of course they should. It's just really an equality thing, men can go in ballet if they want. :)

Plus, there are many departments in the army, and not everyone goes in to combat

Yes, but with the understanding that most women's bodies cannot perform the same way that men's bodies do. That's an important thing to remember in combat.
