Alot of pain or no pain depends on the person and the artist's style or work. Fatty parts of the body "they say" are least painful and on the bone are more painful...but I've heard different stories from all types of people! Just get what you want where you want and it's all worth it!! Love 'em, they're great! Just be sure to go to a professional that is clean, knows all the laws and can answer any questions you may have!

Any part of the body that is fleshy and not too boney. My best friend was DEATHLY afraid of needles, and pain, and was hell-bent on getting a tattoo. She chose the meaty part of her calf for a small tattoo and started crying while the guy was cleaning her leg and prepping her. She squeezed her eyes shut and braced herself for the pain. After nearly 5 minutes she asked "are you going to start this soon?!" and was shocked to discover he was already halfway finished. Didn't hurt a bit! I got a tattoo on my ankle. The upper part of the tattoo felt like a cat scratch but the lower half that was right on the bone was extremely painful. I didn't mind it, but I have a high pain tolerance and don't mind needles.

Everyone can have an opinion on this, including me. But it boils down to this. If really depends on you. A lot of people will saw the thigh because there is more fat there and less bone, but I am here to tell you that the tat I got my thigh HURT BAD! Granted it was about a 2 hr setting, but still the pain level was worse there than on my shoulder one. EVERYONE is different.

The rule works like this.
If there are more nerves or bone then it is more painful.
If you have a lot of muscle or fat, it is easy, but if not, upper arms, thighs, buttocks and so on are fine.
The soles of your feet sound good (previous poster) it will be real cool when you are on the beach or in bed. Not so good when you want to show off your tats and have to take off your shoes in the pub.
Some tatoo artists will use a mild anasthetic when they give you the tatoo.

Its not really where on your body is the least painful its more like what kind of tat you want to get on your body, is more the question. Do you want a little butterfly the size of a penny? Or do you want a portrait of Mount Rushmore on your body? lol. Then I could answer your question better.

I have 3 tats so far, and the least painful was my lower back. The one on my stomach hurt the most, the one on my toe wasn't that bad, but was still more painful then the one on my back. Have fun and relax!

i have 11 tattoos..the lower back hurts but not as bad as the top of your foot....the bottom of your foot was the one place the tattoo artist WOULD NOT ink....he said that the ink would absorb faster into your system there and said sorry to it.....ankle hurts.....thigh hurts less....calf hurts but not as bad as the back of your neck.......pubic area hurts a bit depending on how close to creases of your legs they go.....
but other then that....they all hurt a bit depending on YOUR tolerance for pain ....my opinion is to get it where you want it....the final tattoo is worth the hour or less of pain to get it

it depends on your pain threshold and the artist. for me my neck and pelvic were the least painful, but most of it was the artist and not were the tattoo was.

That's easy, more fatty areas are less painful. 1st tat, buttocks if you're a real baby. 1st tat, upper arm if a hair above baby.
