My husband saw an ad for a job so he phoned up. The lady said for him to meet her in a hotel at a given time but wouldn't tell him what it was about. I told him not to go as it sounded fishy, I then e-mailed her myself to ask her what it was about. She said it was some sort of dieting thing. Does this sound genuine to you?

No No No... First of all men shouldnt even be conversating with women by themselve if we were to go back to the bible days .. a man keeps himself free from anyone being able to make any assumptions. i hope you husband didnt meet with her. I am faced daily with odd things ,,,my husband is the head mechanic at the shop he works at and women are always batting their eyeballs to get something for nothing.

I recently applied for a part time job at a PetLand store that is being newly built in my town. It is not yet opened, but there were applications on a table in front of the store while construction was underway, and I filled one out, and mailed to the corp office in a nearby city. Last Sat I got a phone call telling me that there was a "group interview" at a local hotel for the Petland store. I too thought it was really odd and suspicious, esp since it was a man calling to set up the interview. I went, and indeed it was real, and there were ten or twelve applicants who met at the hotel in a meeting room. True enough, on the phone they identified themselves clearly as Petland, but my point is the hotel part might not be as weird as it sounds. What is odd is the vagueness of the whole thing.

I had a guy ask me to meet him for a job at a coffee shop, but he wouldn't talk about it on the phone. I didn't show up, because I thought it sounded fishy.

It sounds like it is one of those promotional things like Amway. You meet in a hotel and they give you a presentation about how much you can earn if you invest so much. All you have to do is buy their products and then mark them up to sell them. Then they go on about how easy it is to do.

Anytime a person has an employment opportunity and are unwilling to give specific details, it is probably something fishy and not something you want to get into. Good luck but I would bet dimes to dollars this is one of those occasions.

Nope. I don't think it sound genuine...

Why the place in all place "Hotel"?
Is the ad for a job anything about dieting?
If it's not then that's bullsh*t!

I agree that it sounds fishy. If your husband insists on going, I'd be sure to go with him.

It sounds like one of those pyramid schemes or multi-level marketing. You can't make much money selling their product but only by signing up people to work under you.
