I agree with most of the answers that are posted.
It does teach you responsiblity, where your money is going(clothes, food, insurance, rent, utilities etc).
I have been on my own for 12 or 13 years and it does help plan or see where my money goes in a given month.
It is kind of scary to hear about people who are in debt or bankrupt. I do keep track monthly where my money goes.
I would do what your mom is asking. She cares and is trying to teach you how to budget your money which is a valuable lesson!

I assume you’re a minor. Your parents are trying to teach you some ‘money sense’, which is something every parent needs to teach their children. Even adults sometimes do this. If they have a problem with spending habits, they track them for a while to see (in black-and-white) exactly where their money is going (and often times they are surprised by the results). And by doing that, they can tell what adjustments they need to make.

I'm presuming that you are underage and still living in her house. I think she is trying to teach you to keep track of your money and your spending. If so, this is an invaluable lesson as I am living proof that you can get into a lot of hot water if you don't manage your money properly.
If I were you, I'd sit down with her and ask her what she wants you to learn from this. What are her expectations? What is she hoping to see? Discussion and discourse are always the way to understanding.

That's called keeping track of your expenses. It's a very very good lesson to learn. You have to know where your money is coming from and where it's going. Keep doing it. Don't get caught like most people with mounds of debt. Be different. Be smart.

Do it! This will be a valuable life lesson. I wish I had had someone to help me learn the value of my paycheck! Wouldn't have a lot of debt!

It looks as though she is trying to teach you about budgeting so you won't behave irresponsibly with money and get into debt. Good for her. Go along with it and when you've proved to her you understand she'll lay off.

How old are you, she is properly trying to teach you responsibility, if you write it down you can see where the money went to and how easy it is to spend and not know on what. but if it bothers you so much explain to her that you understand why she is doing this but that it is really your own money which you worked for and you feel its not needed to write everything down ,

If you are under 18 or live at home, deal with it, if you are on your own, just don't do it, unless you keep asking her for money, if she is supporting you in any way, it is her right to know what you have going on.

Go ahead and do it. It's good to get into the habit of knowing where you put all your pennies.
I know it may seem rough, but it's really a good thing to be able to do.
