..I'm not sure if it's spelled right

No that's not it..one personsaid it meant like crazy or out of your mind....i was looking for a closer meaning

If it means something like crazy,out of mind, referred to a woman should be "tarata" while if referred to a male is "tarato".
You can use the word "tarata" also by speaking about a genetically unstable of mind person (una persona geneticamente tarata).

I can't figure anything else with similar sounding and close to the meaning described in yr comments.

I'm italian and I can assure you that this word is not part of my language. Perhaps it is spelled in a very different way.

Maybe you mean "bravata"=bluster----act in an arrogant, overly self -assured or conceited manner.
