From a security, or counter-intelligence standpoint, your question makes sense.

I was in Military Intel and was taught ANY info you give out is potential intel for the enemy. The reason this type of intel isn't more damaging to our efforts is because things change so quickly from theater to theater. Doctrines change, strategies change, equipment is upgraded etc., and I for one have seen extremely little which I would consider to be good intel for an enemy.

However, answering questions about the GI Bill and such, whether you can get a degree while in the service, etc, doesn't help our enemies. In fact, from a Psychological Warfare standpoint, answers to benefits questions may actually demoralize the enemy; if they read Y/A, they will see how intelligent, how studious and how committed our troops are.

Security over intel is NOT protecting the information itself- The enemy already KNOWS the things MI gathers. Security means protecting the SOURCE of that intel whether it be Human Intel (someone working to give the US vital info), Signals Intel (Radio or cell phone traffic) etc. As longas they aren't giving out info such as names, addresses and such, I wouldn't worry too much about the answers you get in here.

Besides, who says these answers are strictly truthful? Psychological Warfare means in part, diseminating MISinformation to confuse and further demoralize the enemy.

I guess I have seen some questionable stuff on here but the way i see it it's nothing that hasn't been plastered all over the newspapers anyway. I don't agree with having when a unit is leaving or returning in the news, where they are going, what they are doing, all should be nixed as far as I'm concerned. But today's military is a lot different than when I was in. Soldiers cooked the food, washed pots and pans, did the laundry, etc. etc., now all foreign civilian people do that, I can't help but wonder just how well the enemy knows what we are doing and when we are doing it by allowing that to happen. I think soldiers should be self- sufficient and according to what I hear from over there, they aren't.

Stop worrying there is nothing that I seen in my opinion that will help our enemies know our strategies, attack plans, or safe zones. All military plans can change from day to day, or stepped up for immediate change in course or action. Relax everything doesn't get leaked out in Y!A's, its in the TV and government agencies that actually feeds out information. Do you ever stop to think that it may be intentional and a strategic purpose for it?

Like the answerer above asked, "do you have a reference for us to observe and see what you are alarming people to"? I truly am curious right now and would like to read some of what you mention.

There are some things that I have seen that do fall into OPSEC and COMSEC. But, then again, it's all over the news. I've run into that problem before. Don't tell anyone, but next thing you know it's front page in the paper or it's all over CNN & FOX. As long as no one is leaking actual troop movements and battle plans, I think we're fine! If not.... report it and have it pulled!

It is still America babe.

That question/request would be more worthy from other Foriegn Governments.

I do find the psycho threats against the President, worth calling the FBI over!

I haven't read every question and every answer, but I haven't tripped across anything operational in here yet.

Take a break dude and chill.
