Maybe it is because logic is not permitted anywhere in a religious discussion, but I have a real problem logically following the whole God knows all that is was or will be idea. If God knows everything we are going to do and how it ends, how can we do anything to change that end result? So, that's pretty much predestined, isn't it? I mean it's already a done deal from His perspective, right?
Going along that track, why did He even bother to create us anyway? Was he bored? Did He need soemthing to watch to pass the time until "Judgement Day" when we all end up where we're supposed to be at our respective day of reckoning? What would a perfect, omniscient Creator need with pathetic, mortal humans? And, if He is perfect, why did His creations come out so flawed and vulnerable? The whole created in His image thing...was the imaging/copying machine malfunctioning?

Christian theological beliefs have developed over time. The Bible is the starting point, not the endpoint. And not every Chrisitian believes in predestination, or that bad things happen because God has planned them. Theology has always been a descussion, a debate. You can see even this in the development of theology in the Bible.

God knows "how many hairs are on our head" and how the world will end. If that is not predestined then I don't know what is. Strange as it is, God knows the end even though every day we have a choice of which road to choose.
We live in the dark while God already knows which road we will choose. Strange singular sight into the future (reasoning defined).
Also in the bible are several accounts of those who have been able to glimpse future events and those who have glimpsed the spirit world of the dead (see the story of King David).

It says a lot in the Bible about predestination. You should read it sometime. So why people assume you know what you are talking about, and are letting you lead them by the nose, is discouraging. Or was you just posing a hypothetical question for the unwashed masses to stand forth on?

But the Bible does say something about predestination, and it's not fate. This concerns salvation, not whether we can make day-to-day decisions. Christians want God to guide their footsteps. Many Christians unfortunately don't acknowledge this. And atheists don't care.

Honey, one thing I've learned in my....30 something years, is that if you believe in nothing, you'll fall for everything. Now I don't know who said that but I certainly do believe it. All I know is that life for me will one day end and until that day comes, I'm living every day to the hilt! Feel me? Embrace your enemies, welcome your fears, challenge your heart, live your dreams and in the end, YOU decide if your life had anything to do with fate or not. Have you seen Final Destination? Great movie(s). I kinda see my life like that. I'm sure you've had deja vu before, right? Have you ever been in love before? How did that happen? Believe Believe Believe

There are two ways to look at this; the first is that God knows and see`s everything from the beginning of our natural time to the end all at the same moment so to speak, therefore He knows who is destined to be with Him in Heaven and those who will not be.
The second perspective is that God has already predetermined everything we do and that everything is already laid out like a TV series and we cannot change anything.
I have no belief in the second opinion myself as to my way of thinking this would make us like zoo animals who perform at the trainers voice, even though God knows who will be with Him forever it is not predetermined at all, any sinner can repent and be forgiven and aim for the kingdom of God and eternal life.

God has a plan for all of us. The hard cold fact is, we have free will and are not required to follow God's will. God has given us a soul, brain, and body. We use these to make our own path, based upon the teachings of the Bible, or we choose to disobey and suffer the consequences. I would not say it's "fate" it's not carved in stone, but God does have a plan for all of us, it's up to us to submit to that and follow. We make mistakes, and God allows for that, and still allows for our redemption. That's the glory of God.

Oh but it does!!!! The Bible DOES speak of Pre-Destination! Read on:
Jeremiah 1:5
Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
