No, but it will reduce the amount of time required to apply for American citizenship. Normally, on a Green Card its a five year wait before you can apply for citizenship. I believe if you enlist in the military you only have to wait two years, but you need to check with a USMC Office it could be less. Well worth the effort to pay your new country back for that price of freedom. Nothing comes without a price for freedom.

And just to wrap up the issue - you are eligible to seek enlistment in the US armed forces if you are a US citizen, or a US Legal Permanent Resident (Green Card holder).

as a former marine myself i can tell you is that you dont have to be a citizen, matter of fact you can get your citizenship faster if you join the service.
