I had been a faithful voter for several elections. But after the elections the people I elected failed in their promise to uplift the life of the people that I am getting so heart-broken. So I want answers from several people all-over-the-world who are voters to answer my questions. Is it still relevant to fulfill my duty as a citizen to choose the people to rule my country? Thank you.

Depends on what you need done, and how much support to can put together on it (signatures).
That is what they are there for.
Its hard, but today there is an awful lot of information out there about candidates and elected officials use that has your guide line and not the political drivel that they put out while campaigning.

To answer your Question congress is to busy infighting to LEAD. So not a lot of lifting of any kind coming from there.
Ultimately you only have control over uplifting yourself.

First things first VOTE CHARACTER! But Even then the power that these politicians get is almost euphoric. Most don't have the character to handle the power and end up self serving with a bone to the people occasionally. Similar to the way most Lottery winners are Bankrupt in about 10 years. They just don't have the discipline to handle the heat. One thing we can look for is faith. People of Strong Faith have a good moral compass. They'll make mistakes, sure, but they'll know they did and will take responsibility. The Founding Fathers of the United States where men of great faith knowing that they would be hunted persecuted. Most died broke giving up their fortunes for the freedom of the US. Others died in Battle, some where hung by the British..But the United States emerged and has grown into great country.
CONTINUE TO BE FAITHFUL...
CHOOSE WISELY, BE EDUCATED IN YOUR VOTING!

These candidates make promises that are sometimes very impossible to fulfill but somehow there are still who can uplift people's life...

On the other hand, keep in mind that as a good citizen you shouldn't rely on these people too much.. u should know your own responsibility or obligations or probably follow the law... =)

Accountability applies to elected officials too. Tell them you are disappointed and ask why they have failed to live up to their promises.

But be specific. What exactly did they promise to do that would 'uplift the people'? Did they do it and it not work? Did they try to do it but did not get the legislation passed? Did they get something done but compromised so much that it hardly made a difference? Did they not even try? Did they serve special interests instead of the people that voted for them?

You can hold them accountable for their failures. Write to them. Write a letter to your local newspaper. Campaign for their opponent in the next election. Run for office yourself.

Instead of being heartbroken and giving up, get to work and shake them up.

Yes, it is always relevant to vote. Just don't vote for the people who disappointed you again. It is bound to happen that you will be let down at one time or another. There are a lot of people voting and you can't really expect your favorite will win all of the time.

If they know what is uplifting human lives.
Then there will not be any mess out there.
Just lost sense of direction and purpose of life.
With the blind in leading the blind while the blind were following the blind living in misery in own backyards.

Congressmen and Senators tend to enrich themselves when elected rather than truly serving their constituents. Budgets allotted to them were spent on projects in exchange for commissions and for future votes from people they brainwash to get help in the next election. Corruption is prevalent making the people suffer rather than being alleviated from poverty.
