Matthew 7:7 Jesus says:

Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!

Matthew 17:20 Jesus says:

For truly, I say to you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.

Matthew 21:21:

I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask

Mark 11:24:

Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

WHY DID THE BIBLE LIE TO US?

2007-05-24 20:53:06 · update #2

John chapter 14, verses 12 through 14, Jesus tells all of us just how easy prayer can be:

"I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it."

Hi Johnny. It's me again :-)

I'm glad you are still searching the scriptures! :-) I pray that they give you comfort during the tough time you are going through.

OK. I have a question for you.

I know this is a hard time for you, and I'm sorry to have to ask this, but isn't it a selfish motive (and for your own pleasure) to wish/pray that your mother lived as long as you wanted her to? (Again, James 4:3.)

And I'm saying this with all the love, care and concern I have for you and all fellow believers in Christ...God in His infinite wisdom, mercy and love called your mother out of this world/home. You are grown and she knew you would be okay. Maybe she was tired of this life and all of it's struggles. Maybe (even though you may not have know it) she was praying to go home/die.

Have you considered that maybe, just maybe God answered her prayer and not yours?

Have you read Job? He was also righteous. What did God say to him? Did God answer Job like Job wanted Him to? ("Where were you when I created the earth?")

God is God and He does whatever pleases Him...

Johnny, I'm still praying for you during this difficult time.

#1 Asking Christ into your heart; Jesus stands at the door of everyones heart and is saying you will find him by asking him into your heart, seeking after him and he'll open heavens doors to you.

#2 If you don't have faith or belief in Jesus then huge obsticles won't be moved.

#3 Faith is key. How strong is your faith?

How about because He does do what He says...

I can't deny the answered prayer I've received, the miracles I have witnessed, and the power and glory of His Spirit as He accomplished His will through me.

Read some of those verses again...

How's your faith?

Something else to consider...
It's not about us... It's about love.

In Matthew 7:7, I think he was talking about asking for salvation only.

In the rest - yeah, I hate it when I don't get what I want. It's a bummer. Of course, if someone else prayed the same (opposite?) thing, then who is going to "get the prize"? Maybe one gets it and the other doesn't. Or maybe half and half.....

God created human being and knows every fiber of your being. You cannot fool Him in any way.
If you ask a knife just so...you can kill yourself. Will God give it to you?...of course NOT !!!!!
If you ask God absolute power and plenty of money...just so you can control everybody here on earth with your evil slavery-kind of thought. Will God give it to you?...of course NOT !!!!!
Do not challenge a God on what He intends to do or give to you...because He knows what is best for you.
If it takes to wait, or to humble you, or not to give it to you at all because you don`t know and understand why you asked of it through PRAYERS .....then so be it !
Just to let you know..."All humans are under the mercy of a God".......as any citizens or subjects are under the mercy of a country leader or a family of royalty (kings, queens, princesses, etc).

How God spoke back peoples prayers are in the process the Bible. Hannah ask God for slightly one; confident Sarah replaced into informed she might have a son; wait (for many yrs, i might upload) Saul asked God if he might desire to win a conflict; no.
