Possibly not. I hope with God's help if it ever occurs to me I will be able, but Christians these days seem to have trouble to even be humble. I'm not sure a lot of people these days have authentic faith that they can stand upon.
But look to Christians in persecuted coutries, they are killed for their faith still today.

You're right, of course. Jesus did promise that the gates of hell would not prevail against His church. He did not promise that hell wasn't going to give it one hell of a shot...
Christians all over the globe ARE enduring horrible persecution today. Pick up a copy of D.C. Talk's "Jesus Freaks" or google "Voice of the Martyrs"...I think you might be in for some eye-opening stuff.
American Christians, I think, are among God's spoiled children. We've had it too good for too long. However, if we keep sitting on our holy rear ends while the ACLU takes more and more of our Constitutional rights from us, one at a time, that may not last for too long. About this time last year, if you remember, a young girl who had made valedictorian of her graduating class had her mic cut off, because she wanted to thank her God for His help...would that have happened if she had been any other religion but Christian? Something to think about. Was there a great Christian outcry? I mean, other than a few little peeps in forums like this one?
Christians are pretty tolerant. There is a huge statue of the god Vulcan in the middle of Birmingham Alabama. Now, you'd think those Bible thumpin' fundies down in the Bible belt would've torn that thing down by now...but, only one person even bothered to complain. And yet, how much outcry is there over Christian symbols in public view? The statue doesn't bother me...the fact that, in the very same city, we were FORCED to take the Ten Commandments out of our state court house, with very little Christian protest, bothers me very much.
Unbelieveable.
No, we aren't facing real physical persecution. Not yet. But if this trend continues, and we don't stand up and protest, it won't be too long before our kids and grandkids will have to hide in the basement to worship...if they dare...
God bless you!

How about all the people and sometimes animals who were tortured and killed in the name of Christianity?
Innocent women blamed to be witches, old lonely ladies tortured for practicing herbal remedies, people falsely accused of witchcraft or crimes against the church under the threats of death and torture.
Every where Christianity lays its cold dead hands it leaves a trail of dispair and misery. Destroying cultures & lives of those who oppose it's horrible doctrine.
I doubt that persecution OF people of faith could happen at this time. People are discovering every day what a sham religion is. Science is making religion less relevant every passing year.
Religion is just superstion. It's hardly worth the time & effort to rally for or against.

Every day evil works everywhere.
Nothing really changes. The persecution is relative.
In Foxes Martyrs, the martyrs were flavour of the reign variety, and persecutions.

I think when I was a teenager and in my 20's I could. Probably not now, though.
No, luckily those of us in the USA aren't strongly persecuted.

Are you obsessed with the idea of martyrdom? Are you asking for someone to prove your faith by persecuting you?
