It is the most beautiful cat you have ever seen, pure black with piercing green eyes. It has no collar so it must be stray, it is finding food ok, but the side of it's face has mites on it. Me, being an all round animal lover, feel I should do something, but WHAT? There are 2 horrible cats next door to us, and they have already had a go at the cat before for passing on THEIR territory, its onjly time before they do it again. What shall I doo?!!!!!!!!

Okay first you bring to the vet. After that you may want to keep it as your own after all you did say its beautiful and a all round animal lover. As for the cats next door you might want to keep it indoors if you keep the cat.

Well if you are prepared to spend a bit of money you could treat the cat for the mites and possibly ticks. One of the best ways, and cheaper than going to the vets, is a product called Frontline. It is a liquid in an ampoule that you put on the back of the cats neck, where it cant lick, and this will cause any parasite that feeds on the cats blood to fall of and die.The cat needs to be treated every 5 weeks during the spring and summer when ticks and mites, fleas also, are active.I don't know what country you are in and whether the Frontline I mentioned is available there.Should you decide you would like to try this You can get the stuff from a pet pharmacy in Scotland.A pack of three ampoules, sufficient for 15 weeks probably the whole season costs just over £11 english pounds. The place yo get it is the Best Pet Pharmacy Co.Macmerry East Lothian Scotland.Order online www.bestpet.co.uk

Get the stray cat into your house and ring cat protection or and the rspca and ask them if they would come pick the cat up tell them how long it has been hanging around and about it's face explain about your cats next door and you are worried about it, you have to get it into your house first before you ring then they will come pick up the cat, going by past experience i have always found cats protection to be the more helpful and they will bend over backwards to come and get the cat and rehome, now the rspca are and have been great they normally ask where you live and they will give you the name of the nearest vet to take the cat to and they will give you a reference no to pass onto your vet so the vet can send them an invoice for treatment, so my advice is to ring cat protection first, i hope you get him in and he is ok.....

If you give it some food and you dont mind spending a bit of money buy some tablets or syrup from pet shop and mix it in with the food , not forgeting to crush the tablet and read dosage instuctions .Also it may not be a stray i have 2 cats and i wont let them wear collers as my 3 year old got it stuck around her mouth when she was about 1, took us all our time to catch her as she was scared and panicked and in some pain , i have 2 cats now and they both are chipped , rather that than go through the coller episode agian.Good luck from one animal lover to another. Wish i had one like that in my garden its sounds a really beautiful cat.

I would go to your local supermarket and buy a plain white flea collar. I did this hoping if she wasnt a stray someone would take this off her so I knew she had a home. They also do some other products for ticks and fleas off the shelf too so you should find something that will help. If you decide to keep the cat she will soon mark that territory as her own.

See if u can find out where she came from or keep it in and call rspca they will treat it and find good home for it,if u want to adopt it tell urself it's temporary get it treated but try and find the owner.Just cos it's not wearing a collar does not mean it's stray mine do not wear collars because the ones they had before rubbed all the fur off round their necks

Can you have another cat? If so I would take care of it and try to turn it into an inside cat. Outside cats have are 5 times more likely to live shorter lives than indoor cats. If not try to surrender it to a no kill shelter. Even if you think it's someone else's cat. They honestly don't deserve to keep it if its face has mites like that. Poor thing, I would just do what's best for the cat.

you should call a no kill shelter to pick the cat up, but be careful because if it is mange, some mange can be transferred from cats to humans. So be careful. If you plan on keeping the cat take it to the vet it could be quite expensive to treat if it has mange. Also mange could be transferred to other cats. I don't know where you live so can't tell you of a no kill shelter so go to yahoo search engine and type in no kill shelter with the state you live in, you should be able to find a no kill shelter in your area. They will cure the cat and find a home. Hope this helps good luck

For months a cute Calico cat showed up in our yard. We had always had dogs and not that long before our last one died. We petted her and she was loving. One day after a month of letting her in then put outside when busy or bedtime, hubby said decide.

That day we bought a litter box, I took her to the vet for shots, etc., and make sure she was "fixed, though I did not know calico cats are sterile (DNA thing). She has signs of several fights, etc. She is afraid of any other cat or dog and loud sounds like the garabe truck.

We have not regretted our choice as Taffe is a joy. For people who have always had dogs, we have found this bundle that cuddles hubby at night, lays in my lap when watching TV, does silly stuff to get our attention, very appreciative to be safe and loved.

So adopt the baby, take to a vet and make sure there are no surprise babies in the future, has all it shots, etc. Save the cat from those horrible neighbors. You know cats are not like dogs, they are territorial and will hurt the stray. And you will have someone to come home to everyday who wil rub your leg, meow, and be easy to care for.

If you have an ounce of compassion, you'll do your best to get it to the vet or call the RSPCA or SSPCA depending on where you live.
You might find that it is a domestic cat which has been turned out of it's home and it would love you to bits for offering it a home. This is what happened to me, and I have had the little cat for over 4 years now and she is part of the family and I love her totally.
Good luck. Do what you feel is right.
